I was at this concert tour at Madison Square Garden, almost the same line up, Jimmy of course with the other two masters, Jeff Beck, and Eric Clapton, it was Kenny Jones from The Who on drums, Bill Weinman from the Stones on bass, Joe Cocker and bunch of other session musicians. I was right next to the stage just three rows up, Jimmy was like 20 feet away, what a concert.

I saw this show at Reunion Arena in Dallas TX in 1983. Astonishing lineup of musicians playing their hearts out for fun and charity. You could tell that the normally reclusive Jimmy Page was enjoying himself playing with his friends Jeff Beck and Eric Clapton. Also notice Ray Cooper (alumni and band member for Elton John, Ringo Starr and Harry Nilsson) playing percussion.

I remember being a very interested 13 year old bc it was one of Jimmy’s first performances after the demise of Led Zep. However, there was no internet. Only photos in rock magazines and clips on Entertainment Tonight.

Would Zeppelin have been the same had Jimmy’s first choice of singers (Steve Marriott) been available?? Or even Stevie Winwood?? Interesting I think. But, in the end Robert Anthony Plant will ALWAYS be the voice of the best band EVER!!!
