It's so good to see another black guy in country music. I've been into country since I first really realized what music was. Through my entire life people have told me I'm weird or looked at me differently because I'm a black guy that's into country music. You are not alone Brother. I have been a fan of Classic Guitar Rock, Southern Rock, Funk, Soul Bands and Guitar Metal since I was a kid in the 1970s. In my mid twenties ,I met an older, laid back outlaw biker type fellow through a friend. After the initial shock, that I have become accustomed to, upon learning that some folks consider me an authority on those genres, he told me I would listen to Country, and almost exclusively l, when I got older. I put no stock in it. It didn't kick, jam, groove or drive like Rick James, Zeppelin, Skynard, SOS Band, Sabbath, Bootsy Collins, Bob Seger or Metallica (1st 4 or 5 albums). However as I matured, my views changed. I ove being Black and I love being Southern. I love genuine people, and I love music with heart and soul, driven by skillful lead guitar and/or bass play. If an artist or band can shred, pick or strum their behind off, and have genuine heartfelt vocals and lyrics, sign me up for that. I know authenticity when I hear it. Country is clearly the primary source of Soul in music nowadays. And being that the Lord blessed me to be born in Carolinia 🙏, I have more in common with the artists and their perspectives than with artists of other genres. I have more in common with most of the Southern working class folks who identify with it than with folks from other regions, regardless of race or ethnicity. I don't owe anyone who disagrees any clarification.

U will be surprised, to the person said ppl said he was weird cause u like country & u black. I don't know where u from & who u hang out with. That is nothing strange now. Lots of black ppl love country and u are one of the first I've ever heard say that. It's such real and personal. It's what ppl are really going thru most of it. It's real life. It's like the blues. It hits home for a lot of ppl, no matter what color.

63, ww here, i've never heard of Jimmie. I saw a headline about him contemplating suicide. Led me to find out who he was. This is the first song I heard and I thought what a lovely voice. Nobody should be put in that position. My best to you. And may justice be done however it turns out.

Hes from my hometown we use to ball at the Rehoboth Beach YMCA went to my High School too. Hes worked so hard for this originally went after the r&b aspect but found his voice in country. Congrats brother.
