LYRICS
I BET YOU’RE UP THERE MAKING NEW FRIENDS
I’M PRETTY SURE YOU’RE LOVING EVERY MINUTE
IF THERE’S A GOLDEN POND FULL OF FISH
I BET YOU ALREADY CAUGHT EVERYTHING IN IT
I BET YOU’RE MAKING EVERYBODY LAUGH WITH YOUR JOKES
I KNOW YOU’RE HOLDING NOTHING BUT THE BEST KIND OF HOPE
SHINING A LIGHT UP THERE WITH THE BIG OLE SMILE YEAH, AND MEAN WHILE
DOWN HOME OH YOU KNOW MOMMAS STILL COOKING THEM DOWN HOME GRITS
I PROMISE I’M WORKING WITH THIS GUITAR ABOUT AS HARD AS I CAN
I MET A GIRL, BOUGHT A HOUSE, PUT A NICE LITTLE PAYMENT
DOWN HOME IS STILL WHERE MY HEART IS
THIS DOWN-HOME KID IS JUST HOW YOU LEFT HIM
I STILL HATE THAT YOUR GONE, I WISH YOU WERE HERE BUT I HOPE I’M MAKING YOU PROUD
CAUSE I KNOW YOU’RE UP THERE LOOKING
DOWN HOME
THERE AIN’T A DAY OUT HERE THAT GOES BY
THAT I DON’T CLIMB UP IN MY F150
ON A BACK ROAD BUMPING CHARLEY PRIDE
YEAH, EVERY SONG KEEPS YOU RIGHT HERE WITH ME I GOT A DAUGHTER NOW I REALLY WISH YOU’D A MET YEAH, SHE’S WALKING NOW BUT I KNOW YOU SEE EVERY STEP.
I WEAR THE NUMBER 15 EVERY CHANCE I GET
SO WHEN YOU’RE LOOKING THROUGH THE CLOUDS DADDY, YOU CAN BET THAT
DOWN HOME OH YOU KNOW MOMMAS STILL COOKING THEM DOWN HOME GRITS
DOWN HOME
DADDY DON’T YOU WORRY OH NO
CAUSE EVERYTHING, EVERYTHING, EVERYTHING’S GOOD DOWN HOME YEAH
OOOOOOH YEAH
DOWN HOME, DOWN HOME, DOWN HOME
I STILL MISS YOU, I STILL MISS YOU,
MISS YOU DOWN HOME

I'm 50/50 with your opinion, although this is sang really well that shouldn't be enough for him to "jump the line" so to speak & win, when there's so much talent out there that's been out alot longer still pushing for recognition.

I'm from Georgia and I was only child and was sheltered so I had 1 best friend behind my house that was of color and my Mama and my Grandaddy that lived across the street wouldn't let her use their toilet, but her family welcomed me in their home with open arms, that has always made me ashamed that I came from people like that!! We all bleed red, and my stepdaughter has 3 kids that are mixed and I would lay down my life for them!! I have a 33 yr old Son and a 11 yr old daughter and I have never taught them to be racist. I grew up going to skating rink but not wanting to skate, but I always got on the stage in middle of skate rink , and all my friends that were not white taught me how to dance, and thankful for that because I dance good, and I love rap, I love all music but I love Usher and Drake's song, love Fetty Wap, Dababy, I not only like beats but instruments and the words of the songs. My ex husband that passed away in 2013 has 1 Son that has 2 half brothers that are mixed and him and his brothers are my people, my family. It's sad how this world teaches racism, my stepdad is from New York and he is Italian, dark skinned, he is Jewish and his kids are Jewish Italians and he is not racist but my Mother says she's not but she tells me I should teach my daughter not to mix, and that is unacceptable to me!!! God doesn't like UGLY AT ALL!!! MY Son is not racist but my daughter's Daddy is also, he says he's not but he makes snide remarks and that's why his oldest daughter doesn't even call him, his baby sisters daughter is half Spanish in Arizona and she doesn't have anything to do with him because he called her a Beano. It makes me mad because I have been treated like people thought because I was white I was racist, I worked at Waffle House and was only white person there and couldn't even where my I can't breath mask because it offended other people and also some of my white so called friends got mad because I wore black lives matters shirts!!! My daughter bless her heart called me racist because I said her sister didn't know hardly any rap songs, she said that's racist Mama and I was like no I'm far from it, I had my boss at Waffle House in Georgia ask me when I was singing words to The box, he was like what you know know about that kind of music? Lol, hey Biggie Smalls is my favorite artist ever, with Ja Rule a close second. I just felt the need to share this with you to let you know that there are people like me that exist who are not prejudiced, that's why this world is so crazy. Being racist of any color or creed or someone's worldly things does not come from God, love does. I live in Arkansas now for my daughter to be able to know her Daddy and my stepson moved here with us and he even makes jokes about his own sister's kids, she is a twin and her sister my other stepdaughter was murdered bk in October and he was white, I try not to be ashamed of my race but it's really getting sad, I shared a post last week that had an Indian Chief on it with full headrest and it said to tell you the truth we are all illegal, because white people took their land and the Jewish descendents are God's chosen people, white people wouldn't be so quick to judge if they were the ones being treated like crap. Last year my daughter was the minority because she was only white person in the classroom and on bus and she got called a white bitch. I told her ignorance is taught so don't respond even with words. I just realized sharing this long post that living here in Arkansas I haven't noticed anybody but white people here and I worked at a dinosaur show at convention center for past 2 days there were only whites, we are not the superior race. Anyway sorry so long, but Jimmie Allen is so super nice looking, and yes love his song. There is a guy named Altus, he sings breaking my back for you, it's rap but he's white, you will probably like the song it's about the Mama's of Altus and Gawne. I also like this girl Lily Rose that just came out on Tik Tok with song called Villain, she's kinda country and kinda rap, Listen to her song I don't smoke. Oh yeah , I apologize again for the long post , it's from my ❤️ heart

@@kimberlyvaughan1436 thank you for sharing. I feel we could be friends if we knew each other. I grew up with two very different parents. My father was a raciest. My mother not at at all. For example, When the schools in my state allowed both white and black kids, dads parents refused to send him. Moms parents told her they were Gods children and to embrace them. My grandmother was amazing. She told me a story from the 30’s. She was a young child. Her family had someone to help around the house. A black lady. She became best friends with the the little girl. Then she got stones thrown at her for being around her. But here are my two favorites

During COVID Jimmie did a special where he was sitting on stage with Darius Rucker. Jimmie told Darius how much he admired him. He then broke down and told Darius that he cared so much about his band and crew that he went and took out a large loan to keep them financially all afloat. He said he sure hoped we all come out of covid safely & he hopes the fans return so he cqn afford to pay off that huge loan lol I thought highly of Jimmie before.....but after hearing that he did that for his crew....just WOW❣❣❣❣❣😊💖
