Set me free pt 2 was his anthem! The auto tune just emphasize his message clearly to all those haters. Like Crazy is such a sad bop. The way he expressed himself throughout his album was beautifully done. He said it's about facing himself. 🥺

The reason why people don't like set me free part 2 in my opinion is 1st because people don't know how to interprete music as art so auto tune for most people is to help with artist voice but in some cases is for distortion to send a message through a character in this case being himself, his shadow self, or even the haters. The other reason is that people want control. They want control of the artists work, of your own opinion, of jimins life, of their faves lives. They want to control every single thing because they can't even control themselves. This, I find, is the reason people hate people who think and act outside the box.

I was getting annoyed by the negative comments, people were trying to keep him in the BTS box totally missing the point of solo projects. I love seeing all the sides of Jimin. Set me free is my gym song for sure. But my overall favorite is Face Off, its something about that song that just does it for me. Hope you feel better soon!

I didn't realize their were so many people who didn't like Set Me Free Pt 2 until this morning. Literally just saw a video call "Why Jimin's Set Me Free Pt 2 was Terrible". They listed the most asinine reasons as to why they the song was "terrible' and in the comments the main issue was the autotune. I personally loved it. I wasn't bothered by the autotune at all. It literally suited the song. The "jarriness" that I got from the song was just thinking, "OMG, my sweet Jimin is thuggin' it out right now! Who is this!?". I loved every moment. The album is fabulous. I am so proud of Jimin... I hope you are feeling better now, Caitin!!

That particular channel who put out the terrible video, if you look at their other videos, I couldn't fine one where they weren't hating on someone. That's what they do. They must be a miserable person and I give zero weight to opinions like that. Unfortunately another bigger channel did a video about that video and it got a ton of views after that which makes me sad for JM. I hope he doesn't see it.

Nah it was just preference for sure for some reason eventhough the song is so great you dont feel it same way as others🤗🤗🤗. And also as my honest opinion, i dont like it that much coz i prefer him present his vocals just like he present his vocals in vibes song.. his voice is so unique and beautiful and having that much autotune is such a waste of his voice.

@@kwonsandara17 true. Feelings about any form of art are subjective, but the channel and the video mentioned in the comment were from a perspective of a hater. That channel always uses very big words to describe their negative opinions. There's a difference in stating your opinion respectfully and completely shitting on someone and their song. Like, just say "I didn't like this" or "I would prefer this over that" and that's all.

And I can't justify language barrier when the phrases like "my ear are bleeding" or "that song is horrid", awful or unlistenable etc. are used. It's different to say you don't like something and move on with your life and having a platform, where you're consistently hating someone. whether it's a youtube channel or twitter. I'm a bts fan and I also have songs that I don't like. But I don't have whole twitter page dedicated for hating on those songs. there's a difference.

Jimin is stretching his artistic WINGS, as are all the 7 in their solo work, and that’s the BIG DRAW. No imagination types, just stick with what you like and staythe the F out of the way of true, creative, exploring artists. I’m 68 and gave up on the music industry long ago. Until BTS lit the sky on multiple levels. They are the real deal, and why we need to support their independence. Love your reactions!

You are the same age as my mother and she would never understand BTS and their music. She thinks my love for them and kpop is a "childish phase" even though I am 28 and have been with them and Korean music for 5 years and counting. I know BTS are loved by all kinds of people of all ages, but it still makes me glad to see comments like yours that prove BTS is loved and understood by all people :)

I honestly didn't know that people don't like Set me Free pt.2 . I think it's amazing, it's been on repeat since it came out. But you know what they say about opinions 😏 Like Crazy was good on the first listen, but now i am addicted to the song, it grew soooo much on me. And i love all remixes also. It's one of those songs that feels timeless. I am so proud of Jimin, he did an amazing job with his first solo album. The king is breaking all the records and i love to see it! When it came to SMF hate it was just kpop stans going to every video of a reactor giving it positive feedback to hate on it and the reactor lol. Theres many kpop stans who hate Jimin and BTS and were out doing witch hunts to hate on it for no reason. Thats why they were coming for the autotuned parts.

Set me free was incredible. The whole album portrays a story and when listened to in order is so emotional. It really helps put set me free pt 2 into context and makes it even more powerful. Like Crazy has been on repeat for me along with the whole album. Music is subjective, but let's just keep it real. Jimin has knocked it out of the park with FACE.

I mean me personally I don't like it because it just isn't something I can listen to. It just kidna puts me off from the overall song. It doesn't make it a bad song though, it's just not my taste

I say this once and ill say it again. LIKE CRAZY is a grower. The more you listen to it the more you get addicted to the song! It has this infectious melody and production!

I wasn't sure about Like Crazy at first, comparing it with the beast that was Set Me Free pt2, but now I can't stop listening to it. I guess it took me a little by surprise, but honestly, the whole album has been surprise after surprise. I feel like he took us places we didn't think he would go and I love it. Jimin is so amazing!!!

One think I learned since I started listening to kpop is that music will always be subjective. I liked the song "Set me free pt.2 ". Honstly the autotune was needed. It brought more emotion to the lyrics he sang. The song is a real anthem for those who also want to be set free. I don't understand sometimes what other kpop listeners hear while listening to kpop song and not only kpop songs. Thank you for appreciating Jimin' s solo debut. You mentioned the sweater being familiar, I realized that too when watching the mv. To me it reminded me of the sweater jhope wore in Ego. I don’t think Jimin ever wore it before so I don’t think I recognize it from anywhere else.

Yes, we do have some groups that use excessive amounts of autotune through the whole song especially in the rap genre, my opinion. I think we shouldn't be so quick to judge something before we pay attention to try and understand what Jimin was saying as you said. Good reaction! this is a phenomenal debut. this song is without exaggeration one of the best produced/written title tracks i have ever came across. jimin is shining better than ever right now and I could not be happier

honestly, i enjoyed both songs! both alternate in my brain when they feel like popping up 😂😂😂 anyway, i agree. set me free pt.2 was something totally different and unexpected from jimin. and like you, i wondered for a long moment after watching the mv, shocked speechless because it really was something else! BUT the message jimin wanted to convey was crystal clear and yes, the song did get hate because of the autotune but people are being superficial. you mentioned that you don’t particularly like autotune and i’m agree with you too. but if used tastefully, like what jimin did, it is an artistic choice, this one in particular helped convey and enhance the message and emotions jimin wanted his listeners to hear and feel. the fans that got angry? they were disappointed because it wasn’t what they were expecting. because they weren’t open to having jimin do something outside of the box. they got invested in this “vision” they have of what jimin should do for his solo that they had forgotten that jimin is perfectly entitled to HIS choice in what HE wants to do and not what other people want. i actually applaud jimin for doing this. it took courage to be able to think and conceptualize this and pull it off so effortlessly. he really worked his ass off and it really can be seen. and it’s something that he could only pull off~😊 from his album, i can’t really pick a favorite because i LOVE them all~ but you’ll have to listen to face-off and alone! oh and idk if you’ve seen or heard it yet, but there’s also a hidden track from the physical album that plays after like crazy (eng ver) right at the 6:13 mark. it’s a fan song jimin wrote called letter and jungkook is on the background vocals 😊😊😊

Thank you for this reaction. I'm still blown away by every track on Jimin's album, and I love that he and his team chose to release SMF first--because of the huge impact. I've never been disappointed by a song from BTS or from one of the members, because I trust completely that the message, the lyrics, the music, the vocal delivery, the visuals are going to be well thought out, perfected to a high degree, lovingly worked on, always with a mindset of bringing something new and different that shows growth to each project. Especially knowing P-Dogg was at the helm of producing for this album, I had complete trust that it was going to be fantastic--because I know Jimin has complete trust in him to help bring his vision to life in the music.

Set me free pt.2 is an amazing song. It's so differnet, creative, grand, dramatic, majestic. I love every second of it. It feels like a movie score and I hope in the future he gives us more songs like SMFP2

Every song is not going to sound like "Serendipity" or "Lie"! We all know by this time hopefully, that Jimin has a beautiful voice and doesn't need auto-tune. It was for artistic purposes. I get being surprised by the style of Set me free Pt. 2, but similar to other comments it's news to me that people didn't like the song. I was definitely surprised about the sound, but it's also definitely a bop in my opinion. (And so is "Like Crazy"; each in their own separate ways.) To me the "Set me free" message was also about expectations towards what Jimins music is "supposed to" be like or what other people "expect" it to be: like breaking expectations based off of what they think they know to be true. But maybe that's just because I like when artists do that. (But yeah, exactly, that's why I agree that the sound was necessary to get his message across.)

I love Set Me Free pt2. Every reactor that I regularly watch..loved the song. People that I follow on Twitter, loved the song. Everyone who didn’t like it, I don’t know them. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Love Like Crazy~ Adore the whole album. Face-Off is definitely another fav. 💜

My initial reaction to Set Me Free P.2 was that if I'd heard the song on its own, with no translation and without the visuals in the MV, I wouldn't have liked it as much as I do. Purely musically, it's not my cup of tea. BUT together with the lyrics, the music video, and Jimin's own thoughts about it, the cohesive story and theme of it - I LOVE it. It's a statement, an anthem for Jimin Ch. 2. There are a few BTS songs I feel this way about - Tony Montana, PTD, ON, Black Swan... like there's something fundamental to those songs that's missing without the visuals/performances, if that makes sense. Like Crazy is one million percent my jam, though. I love this resurgence of 80's synth pop and disco that's winding through kpop. Please more songs like this, k-music industry. The remixes of this are amazing too! So happy for Jimin and this is definitely in my top 10 BTS/member songs now. Just a little afterthought - I've noticed that with releases at least since I've been a fan (I'm pandemic ARMY) that there's a subset of fans I'll refer to as "Bora-doomers" who act like it's the end of the world (or at least the end of BTS) every time something gets released that they don't think is one million percent amazing. I noticed it really strongly with PTD. People couldn't just say they didn't like the song and move on - it's the WORST SONG EVER and BTS IS CRAP NOW and blah blah. Bora-doomers - such drama.

I personally think that this is piece of art. Truly! I think people forget sometimes that song for artists it’s not just a song. It’s part of their experience, feelings. And it’s part can be painful, destructive and very dark. And how Jimin expressed himself in this song - that’s genius! Obviously “set me free” is not the type of song that you will listen to before a date, but when u will fell yourself in darkness, it’s can set you free, too.

This is one of the most genuine reviews I have seen in a long time. I personally loved set me free pt.2. Not all music has to sound pretty. In my opinion, it's supposed to make you feel uncomfortable and triumphant at the same time because those were the genuine emotions Jimin went through and the struggles. I think he is tired of the cookie cutter image that is often associated with him name. There was a clear message in the song, video and the lyrics. I can't get enough of it. Set me free was so artistic with raw emotions and an actual message, I believe that music is art, and to only ask for the usual sun colour may not be the case in everybody’s eye, if i want it to be blue that’s my vision and it’s still art, if i took reference, my work would still be art so adding tunes and actually using any possible sound to make the art you want come alive is absolutely creative and courageous in such times where you’re criticised for doing that. I was caught off guard by the strong autotune in Set me Free on the first listen - but it's exactly as you said: it served his message, the tone, the aggression, frustration, release, and catharsis of it all. And it also smartly distorts the lines with swearing - which lessens the blow (of hearing cuss words) but also smartly represents how those frustrations played out like distorted voices in his head (the lines even overlap and aren't that clearly enunciated, deliberately, I assume). I also tend to not like it when songs repeat one line over and over - but again, the repetition of "set me free" was like a plaintive call and an anthem, and works for this song and how it built up towards the end. After two listens, the song grew on me and now I'm really vibing to it. I'm also not a fan of swearing in general - but once again, BTS thwarts this by using it minimally (in their discography) as a release and even catharsis. That's what cuss words are for - they're not meant to be peppered into every single sentence you speak (like so many people do). So it's actually satisfying to hear it from someone like Jimin who we know as such a sweetie. That's what I love about BTS - they're humble, polite and classy - but they're able to channel all the more negative emotions creatively and fiercely when needed, and to freely show their most human sides too. ("Find yourself a man/woman who can do both" as the saying goes, lol). So often when I get frustrated or angry, I turn on BTS' most aggressive music on loud, and let them help me release all that emotion. It helps so much. Anyway - that's how they don't carry grudges around, spreading negativity or cynicism in their daily lives - they do the very opposite, really. Plus, the choreo for Set Me Free is absolute art. 💜 And Jimin's voice in Like Crazy is so silky and fine... I love it. That retro 80s vibe is so hot right now.

I love your reactions and I'm on the same page as you for Jimin's songs. Set Me Free Pt2 is a highlight for me on this album like Change Pt2 is a highlight for me on RM's Indigo. I am thrilled by the unexpected and the eclectic. I support Jimin and as ARMY, I make it my personal responsibility to try to understand and appreciate his message and his vehicle of delivery. I guess what amazes me about the negativity for Set Me Free part 2, is that these people are trying to keep Jimin locked in a box. Just like Chris Martin from Coldplay said in the intro for Jin's Astronaut, that he felt his music and his life was stuck in this box (but he broke free) just like Jimin did in this song Set Me Free. Why do some of these supposed BTS fans have to be so overbearing? I realize it's not just the fans, it's the haters too. If Jimin didn't like or feel this song he would never have released it and I'm so glad he did. It was powerful, and I'm happy he taking his power back, and doing what he loves without letting the haters and the naysayers try to hold him back from doing his music, his genius, his artistry. If you don't like it don't play it. Anyone that knows Jimin, knows he does not need autotune to enhance his voice, his voice is perfection. His choice of using autotune was a stylistic choice that fit this song and this beat. Jimin stay true to yourself.

The hate towards Set me free is just absurd to me but again, there are a lot of bad people in the world that will hate on anything they do just because. Autotune is not my favorite but in that song it is used for a specific purpose and it makes sense. Tbh I vibe with both, I really love when an artist tries new things instead of doing the same over and over again so both songs are great for me. I give absolutely no headspace to the people who hate on Jimin's Set Me Free because of the auto tune. Just listening to the song and reading the lyrics was more than enough to tell that he was using auto tune for artistic purposes to tell a story. I appreciate those who liked the song despite not liking auto tune in general. News for you: it's the 21st century and, like it or not, auto tune is going to be around for a while. And, eventually, technology even beyond auto tune will be here. How ya like them apples? I love both Set Me Free and Like Crazy, and because it's Jimin, I'm not the least surprised that they are vastly different. To me, Jimin and Taeyang remind me of Michael Jackson's talent and diversity of musicality. But, at the end of the day, people like what they like. I so agree with you! How could you miss the message with Set Me Free. I like the autotune it gave us something different, a different flavor. We know Jimin can sing. There is a video that explains Like Crazy even down to the mud at the end and what it signifies.

I totally agree with you, and I appreciate you addressing what happened with Set Me Free release. I personally loved getting this side from him and was so excited for the whole album. Yes, the autotune took me by surprise in the beginning, but after second listen, I completely got why he used those autotune during those verse and it made total sense. Even though it’s a short album, I feel so full and satisfied with what he gave us. I absolutely love how raw and honest he was with this. Don’t forget to check out the hidden song he made for us. It’s a beautiful gift.

Like Crazy is a great song, beautiful MV, and a perfect club night vibe! It’s a familiar story for anyone who’s had one of those party nights. Great production, and Jimin’s voice is sweet and gorgeous… Thank you for speaking up for Set Me Free Caitlin! Both of these are great songs, and they can’t be compared because of how different they are from each other, but Set Me Free Pt. 2 has impacted me in such a meaningful way! It’s so empowering, and so deep! It’s gritty, dark, and aggressive, and that’s what turned some people off I believe. The Autotune is really just an excuse, it’s more that people weren’t expecting a song like that from Jimin, and were put off by it. I say good, if you can’t support an artist that you love while they experiment with different styles and sounds, then you miss out on their growth as an artist. Personaly, I'm in love with the whole album. Set me free part2 is ma favorite song. This song is so powerful and gives me the strength to continue to fight against negative thoughts and free myself from people's opinion

Ive seen reactors talk about how they saw “everyone” hating SMF which had me confused cause thats not at all the opinions that ive come across. I guess theres a common theme about the people who had so much negative things to say and these are a specific group of individuals who are within reactors following who just want to crap on the song for unfounded reasons. Just as you said it was objectively a great song, and every other normal person had good things to say about it Great reaction! 💜

There is a very dedicated group of negative people (dare I say haters) who hated SMFpt2 so much i think they were trying to find validation for their hate on social media. So they were very loud about their disgust on reaction videos/twitter, etc.

So late here, but I loved Set Me Free from the first time I heard it. The crazy autotune drop was actually my favorite part! (Not a huge fan in general, but that was perfect!) 💜

I haven't seen a single negative reaction vid to SMF so I'm grateful that I've curated a decent list of reactors. Twitter, on the other hand, is another story but Twit is the dumpster fire of the internet. We expect nothing else there. Personally, Like Crazy is the song that I would add to my playlist but I agree that it's more of what we'd expect from Jimin compared to SMF. Many reactors have called SMF an anthem and I think that may also be why some people don't like it. BTS always get shih on for 'statement' songs. I've legit seen comments saying that they've been popular for years, why do they still keep rehashing old incidents/what do they still have to complain about. As if they aren't human beings, going through life like everyone else. And we only actually see a fraction of said life. We have no clue what they're dealing with.

Im no fan of auto tune either. But for SMF2 it’s definitely used as storytelling tool.

I'm so proud of Jimin and respect his artistic process. All the antis and haters can keep their negativity to themselves. It's because kpop stans fcking hate Jimin, that's why you saw so many bad comments, but ARMYs loved it. The hate was so bad that even Weverse Magazine talked about it in their FACE album review, how such a kind person like Jimin got so much unprovoked hate. Kpop stans didn't let Jimin breathe for one second, they were degrading him throughout FACE's entire album promotion not just because they didn't like Set Me Free, it was about literally anything that Jimin was doing. It's been weeks and i've listened to the whole album so many times, can't get over it 💗💗

Honestly, I liked 'Set Me Free Pt 2' instantly although I saw it more as an intro than a complete song. As you said, it was bold of him to do that song and I appreciate his bravery and the fact that he tried to do something different, expressing himself freely for the first time. And 'Like Crazy' has grown on me after a couple of listenings because it's not the music genre that I usually enjoy.

I thought about why people might not like the song (set me free pt.2) too and in some ways I could understand. Because even I was taken aback by the auto tune for a second there because like you I don’t really like it. And yea like you said music is subjective. But I think the problem is a lot people didn’t actually try to have an open mind about it. They took one listen, heard the auto tune and said nope it’s horrible. Yea it was different and something we haven’t heard from Jimin before but that doesn’t make it automatically bad right? I think because people just weren’t used to it or it wasn’t what they expected they therefore immediately didn’t like it🤦🏾‍♀️. But the lyrics still had truth and depth to them as their music always does, and his perfectly crisp vocals were still present as well. Heck he even rapped😆. He showed more of his personal style and attitude than he ever has and the song itself is a total bop🤟🏾 (especially once you don’t get so hung up on the auto tune it actually really fits the song to me). And well imo truly appreciating an artist means understanding and appreciating the choices they made that they thought would best represent their growth, their thoughts, and who they are presently. Even if people didn’t love the song I don’t see why they’d actively hate on it😅. By the second listen I was seriously jamming, if they really gave it a real chance trust me they wouldn’t be saying that but some people are just too stubborn😗

I will say when i first watched set me free i was just in shock the part that threw me off was honestly the autotune section but then i watched a bunch of different reactors and it made me like it lol ,, i was really confused though the first time i watched it but i liked the visuals of the MV alot. Now i listen to this song every single day lmao!!

Set me free: that's what he's experiencing right now... He's been set free from BTS for a while, from all the stress and workload they all went through. He's finally free to make His music the way HE wants it to sound. He's finally free to be on his own and do for HIMSELF, instead of for the group. That's my take...
