Jimmy was the man. I was 10 when the Cards traded for him. He was basically the turning point from the horrible late 90s teams into the awesome 00s.

2:18 I was at that game. We had seats in centerfield. I got a close up look at that one. Edmonds will always be one of my favorite Cardinals of all time. The dude did it all.

90s and 2000s had the greatest defensive outfielders...griffey, Andruw Jones, torri hunter, ichiro and Edmonds. Once in life time defenders

Over an 11 year span andruw jones AVERAGED 22 defensive runs saved a season. Edmonds career high in a season was 13 and that was the only season he was above 10. Big gap between the two. I would probably put Cameron, Hunter, griffey, and Edmonds in the same category. All were very solid.

I met him at a bar in Nashville earlier this year. I grew up a big Cardinals fan and couldn’t believe it was him. I tapped him on the shoulder and asked if he was Jim Edmonds. I didn’t want to bother him, but he was super nice. Asked if I wanted to take a picture together, one of the coolest days of my life.

It was, but only because he didn't have the foot speed Willie had. Otherwise, he'd have caught the ball with a lot more ease. But he's still one of my all time favorite defensive players. The catch he made over the fence, well, two actually, had nothing to do with foot speed and everything to do with good hands.

Ummm... the hall mark of a good centerfielder is one who can play shallow but defend the deep ball. Andrew Jones basically played the same way and was probably a better defender than Edmonds over that span, with both easily being the best of the decade in the 2000s. To suggest anything else is idiotic.
