He never truly broke character until now with the most legitimate reason you could possibly have. Wrestling has evolved and in my opinion the fans deserve seeing the man behind the gimmick. I get the kayfabe no matter what argument, but it would almost be insulting our intelligence if he did this whole thing as a character and never ended up breaking it.

Undertaker will forever be my favourite wrestler of all time. Honestly I cried like a baby during that speech and I'm starting to get emotional just thinking about it again. When he put the coat and hat on Mark Calaway disappeared and he was The Undertaker one (hopefully) last time, no one else can do something like that. He has absolutely nothing else to prove and deserves to rest and spend his life with his family. I hope he'll have a role backstage, just like Dustin he has invaluable experience that could be a tremendous help to the younger talents. Thank you Mark.

It was a once in a lifetime moment. There are hundreds and thousands of Undertaker matches and promos on tape DVD and WWE. But this moment will never happen again. Give credit where credit is due he never broke, and stayed true to never breaking character until the very end! Held it for three decades, and never complained. He was dedicated to it, and stayed true to that dedication. I’m not saying that there weren’t times where he almost did break. But he still ended up finding a way to hold it. There is not another man in the world who could go that long without breaking character especially if it’s an every single day thing. Much credit, and very well deserving of being a Hall Of Famer. Thank you ‘Taker!

You know Jim, his daughter is training to become a professional women's wrestler like her mother and I'm thinking you'll see him in a temporary manager role for her like Rick Steiner is doing with his son. Either way, so ends an era guys like HHH, him, Kane, and Cena who were willing to work injured because they knew how important it was to entertain us the fans. You're never going to see it again because the talent today doesn't hold a finger next to the way it used to be where a guy knew he was easily replaceable at the top if he went down for awhile. There's never going to be another Taker or another Kane and oh by the way, WWE had better induct him and Kane together as the Brothers of Destruction so it won't be the last time we see Taker inducted.
