Dutch sounds so much more coherent in this interview than he does on his own podcast currently.

I’ve been a fan of Dutch since 1972 when he was with Ann Gunkels’ All-South Wrestling Alliance. He was using his real name, Wayne Cowan, and was already a good technical wrestler even though he was a jobber on TV and was in the preliminary matches at the house shows. He would always have a good match when matched up against another good technical wrestler which most of the preliminary guys were. Most of them were better wrestlers than many of the main event guys in recent years.

Dutch said that you can't sell 16.000 tickets in Puerto Rico nowadays but WWE did it last year when they sold Nearly 18.000 in San Juan.

It's obvious that Cornette has respect and deference to old Dutch. The echo feedback on Corny's mike is a bit annoying, but this was 2017 so they were still working out the glitches on the podcast.

I know that this interview was five years old at this point but hearing them talk about one of the downsides of national television really hit home and today more than ever. Yes we have AEW but AEW is not what WCW was. Even though WWF and WCW were both national companies a lot of guys would go work at one company for three or four years and then they go to the other company for a few years. We saw wrestlers like Rick rude, Kevin Nash, Curt Hennig, Scott Hall, etc. we’re all good examples of guys that would go back-and-forth between the two companies and it kept them fresh because even though it was the same guy you’re still seeing on national television it felt different because the two companies felt different. And back then we also had smoky mountain wrestling, ECW, and USWA So there were places for guys to go for a while and still work and then pop back up on one of the national shows and it would be fresh again. That’s one of just many problems we have with the wrestling business today is that we have WWE which does some things right but a lot of things wrong and then everyone else is just a giant in the promotion with money behind it.

so i'm guessing it was common practice to put rookie managers with women (the lowest being in the business) to weed them out?

It makes sense even though it isn't fair. Women are second class citizens in the wrestling business so as a manager, if you can make them famous. It shows you how useful you really are. (I'm guessing).

Dutch and Cornette are the types of Wrestling Geniuses that NEED to be the Coaches/Teachers instead of guys like Michael Hayes or Dean Malenko. They won't do it even if offered to, but they should.

I don't know how Dutch feels about it but I know that cornet has gotten to the point where he's made his money and he makes even more with his podcast and his coronets collectibles, so he's perfectly happy staying home with the light schedule and not having to do the heavy road schedule of WWE so yeah I doubt he would do it even if they offered him a pretty good salary

@@rachaelchenot-gibeault7534 I know. Recently purchased stuff from his website and I have listened to his podcast for several years. He wouldn't do it. I don't think Dutch would either. He's doing Podcasts now as well and is physically limited these days.

Neither Dutch or cornette would be able to make any progress with the modern business. It's too far gone into cartoon , sketch comedy bullshit. Plus when wrestling was great the UFC either didn't exist yet or was barley a blip on the radar. The glory days of believable wrestling are gone forever, especially in the United States.
