"I never murdered anyone." Dropping someone into a giant potato peeler, forcing a person you poisoned to choose between the antidote or acid, handing someone you kidnapped a gun designed to backfire on the user while strongly implying they should shoot the other hostage and abandoning someone with a severed leg locked in an abandoned room so they could die of starvation. Yeeeaaaah, that's definitely murder.

I've actually always enjoyed the hypocrisy of Kramer in these films. People always complain about his character by saying "He isn't actually justified at all" and to me that's what makes the character so good, he doesn't realise he isn't actually a bad person or a killer because he's mentally insane! Just because Krueger is mad at the parents on Elm Street for killing him doesn't mean he's actually supposed to be a justifiable character.

  • @AnekoFoxx

That has always bothered me is how he knows every little detail of your life to pinpoint the one time you did something wrong or incorrect, and now you have to pay for it with your life. EX: One time you forgot to take your dog out for a walk and he peed on the carpet. Now you’re in a saw trap forced to drink water until your bladder explodes. EDIT: A lot of you guys are misunderstanding my comment it’s not about whether you can survive the trap or not. It doesn’t matter who put you in it or how you are supposed to survive. That’s not my point. it’s that you can make a mistake or one bad decision and now you’re in a saw trap, because somehow some way they discovered you did this one thing. Like they have every single person under 24 hour surveillance with visual and audio.

Aneko Foxx And all these copycats lack the point that the original Jigsaw wanted to teach: Cherish your life. Don't take it for granted. He makes the games (for the most part) winnable.

  • @Enchie

ZoanBlade90 True. Most of these traps seems unwinnable. Like that one where you had to cut off parts of your body to weigh down something to "survive". Survive being used loosely, since the shock and blood loss would kill you anyway. Honestly, death by the trap would be better for you.

Jigsaw's philosophy was BS from the start anyway. He tried to kill himself and then came to appreciate life HIMSELF, so why would he act as a "teacher" of sorts by putting non-criminals into brutal traps that rip them apart, put them under immense pressure and also make them play God by choosing who lives and who dies in certain trap scenarios. He's a fucking hypocrite, I mean come on, in one of the movies he puts a guy through a "game" because he was mourning his daughter's death too much. Absolute joke

They could've done something called "Son of Saw" and make it to where it's his apprentice or something. That way there is a motive, you don't have to have John Kramer come back to life, and we get a new fresh villain. You could even keep the puppet, just make it a new dude like Billie Kramer or some other name.

The first film made no sense. Why did Zep agree to help Jigsaw? He could of just went to the hospital he worked in and got tested. Jigwsaw had nothing he could of done, to make him do what he wanted. Why did the detective think that Dr Lawrence was involved? His alibi checked out.

Michael Freedman Zep was poisoned and only Jigsaw had the antidote. Yeah, he could maybe do something else, but Zep got off on the power of the situation. The writers talk more about it in the commentary, about how Zep was someone who was looked down on and felt powerless and how Jigsaw gave him powers, but you see it in the movie where he taunts the mom and daughter with the gun while listening to their heartbeat with a stethoscope. Have a very great day! God bless you all!

i just watched it and , i speak as a guy who loves the first one and enjoyed the rest of the series for what it is (except Saw V and Saw 3D), i appreciate that they at least tried to do something different but much of the movie didn't make sense. I give this a Rental for anyone who enjoys this franchise.

Vits Vicente Torres and the detective who is the new jigsaw pretty much replicated the game jigsaw made 10 years ago (which he was in). That's where the bodies come from, however the new jigsaw's game isn't shown just the victims

The Saw films are full of leaps in logic and you need a healthy suspension of disbelief but I go in with that and eat these up. The only real issues I have woth the fils is the acting is never as good as it could be. Even with good actors many of the line reads always seem a bit wooden and forced and the slasher victim overuse of calling out for help gets old SPOILERS. This film gets right into with a different beginning than usual setting you up for a slightly different take on the franchise. The reveals in THIS film had some predictible moments and the fact that the game that we are watching was an old game worked for me and I peeped that about halfway through. The reveal of the new apprentice was pretty fantastic as well. This film was the perfect mix of traps and story that I wanted. Gone are the weird sped up editing choices, the dark almost made for DVD backgrounds and sets . i always watched these films for John Kramer's story (After the original) and this was the last link in that chain to take us to the next film IF we get any. Full Price!

I genuinely loved the first 2 and later on they made another great one in Saw 6. I'm still fascinated by the 1st one. Not just the movie itself but the production. James Wan had a small budget and 2 and a half week to shoot the whole thing. There were no reshoots, everything was shot at 1 location, and the entire ending was shot in one continuous take. What James Wan and his crew pulled off was amazing.

SawBlood45 I don't think 6 gets enough credit. I think it isn't as good as the first one but the the Story (john's and the trap stoey) really worked for me.

It’s because after Jigsaw died Hoffman was doing his work for him but he was revealed to be actually killing people which is why y’all are wondering why Jigsaw said he never killed anyone. I mean technically he has duh but kinda sorta is his way he hasn’t.

Yeah, Jigsaw was the only one who bought into his own preaching. Shawnee Smith (forgot her character's name) and Hoffman both only wanted to kill people which is why they started to make their traps inescapable.

I will say in defense of "Jigsaw" killing people who didn't deserve it, it seems they are referring to the later films in which John Kramer was NOT alive and Detective Hoffman was the one doing all the traps. He didn't seem to subscribe to the earlier ideals that John had in the first 3 films.

No not at all. Because in, i think it was 6, the opening pendulum trap had no escape mechanism. Dude had to impale his hands, which he does, but the pendulum still lowers and he even says "But I played the game...". Hoffman basically just took the traps to advantage and used them as murder filler. Amanda was more of the "look this is some hypocrite bullshit because you put me through your game TWICE and I'm still fucked up."
