Jigging for Salmon

Спорт

We're jigging for salmon at the mouth of the Niagara River in Lake Ontario right on Niagara on the Lake. The tactic today? Drop the Stingnose to the bottom, jig it up, let it flutter down, pause for a couple seconds, and repeat. We have a bit of current and that's drifting us just enough to cover the right amount of water.

I miss the little walleye/bass net. Made all the fish look bigger, no matter the size and was always just a bad scoop away from total hilarity.

Another great video. I have multiple sting nose minnows and I lose track of the different sizes too. Maybe think about stamping the weights on the side of them or something when it’s made. Just a thought..

Stocked salmon have had their adipose fin clipped off. Wild fish still have their adipose fin. So the salmon Antonio caught was wild.

Thanks Ivo for the awesome video. I fish Erie but catching a salmon on Ontario in my 16 ft Lund is on my bucket list. Do you mind if I ask what time of year this was? It looks like there's lots of green on the trees behind you so it can't be Spring. And you're both wearing coats so I'm guessing it's early fall? Maybe September? All the best to you.

Any boat will do. I've been a few miles out on a canoe with a 30 lb electric motor and have seen kayaks out there . We have lots of bays that are safe and out of the big wind. Lake Erie can get angry very quickly so knowing what the weather does to the lake is essential

...issue fixed...store now accepts CDN or USD :) The old way was set up because all costs are in USD so having pricing in USD removes currency fluctuation risks for everyone and keeps things fair - but happy to say, a store upgrade has now allowed multiple currency :) Thanks for your support and understanding and for taking the time to write to us - we do read every comment but sometimes don't get a cahnce to answer all of them. Good luck on the water :)

I’m disappointed that you charge USD as well for your products. Also the lack of life jackets on your boats sets a poor example for kids. Antonio not wearing a life jacket and standing up in a boat on Lake Ontario is unwise.

I’m sure Antonio will be fine. If you’re so concerned about kids not wearing life jacket then maybe you should blame their parents or the adults accompanying the children huh? I mean no kid should be on a boat alone without adult supervision so isn’t it that adults job to ensure the kid is wearing the life jacket? Go look for someone else to bash or find something better to do
