The snow lion is a mythical creature that exemplifies enlightenment and fearlessness. The lion represents glaciers and snowy mountains and the community of Tibet.
The Snow Lion Dance is about the relationship between a family of lions and an older man. The man was meditating. He was starving. The lions came, and they gave milk to the man, and he drank it and became very healthy. It's about how people and animals are dependent on each other. If there is no relationship between animals and human beings, we can't survive.
The children perform the Lion Dance to people throughout our region. We want to save our culture and protect our traditions. Loss of culture is loss of identity. This dance is part of our culture.
