Saduel & Lhapsang Barwa_Zangthig Achey Lhamo Chham

The Achey Lhamo Cham dance was invented by Drupthob Thangtong Gyalpo (1385-1464? ), a musical drama pioneer, in Tibet. In the video, five dancers play the roles of a god, a serpent, a fisherman, a helper, and King Norzang. Only the communities of Merak-Sakteng in the Tashigang district and Lauri in the Samdrup Jongkhar district in Bhutan perform Achey Lhamo Cham. This cham dance is only performed on rare occasions, such as national day and promotional celebrations, following a bountiful crop harvest.
This video presents the performance of the ground-breaking ceremony (Saduel) and Incense stick offering to the god (Lapsang Barwa)
