PortableBacon many times people that say "fuck islam" or whatever usually are right wing conservatives where I am from. As to "christian extremists" IDK where you live but here, they used to go around killing black people. They are elected officials that use the excuse to "bring freedom to the middle east" who have dropped more bombs on innocent civilians than you could count. You haven't been to some of these churches how they used to be in the past when they said "being gay was evil" or when the priests would tell slaves "listen to your masters and obey" or way back in the day when the church forceably took over land with the use of force. They would literally make your change religions or kill you. You probably also do not see the radical christians that are in ireland who literally terrorize "in the name of the lord", they are literally modern day crusaders. All types of assholes have used religion to do evil and unspeakable things. To say one religion is better than another or to say that a religion that you know nothing about only brings bad things is foolish.

What the Rabbi said is true. The reason there is not as much extremism in Judaism and Christianity is because there is more or less a central figure who holds authority over the faithful. In Judaism there are Grand Rabbis and councils of rabbis who regulate the religion and in Christianity there is the Pope and Bishops and other such regulatory bodies such as Christian Conferences. In Islam there is no solid interpretation of theology, because there are only imams who take care of their mosque and that's it! In some areas that is not the case as there are such things as Grand Imams and Islamic Courts to regulate their religion (and in these regions there is likely to be no extremism). Moral of the story is get people in charge to regulate and interpret your religion! Hierarchy and organization is very important!

I am not saying that I have an obvious, extremely simple alternative to what is happening in France. To me, separation of Muslim and Jewish students will only make the division between them stronger and much more difficult to control. Without young Muslims and Jews meeting each other, getting to know each other, and recognising that they're both just people trying to live their lives, how are they supposed to go into the work force where there may be a Muslim or Jew working there. Will they both refuse to communicate? I think this is a step backwards, but perhaps we need to take a few more steps backwards in order to figure out how to establish peace between the two religions. I say two RELIGIONS because the man in this video explicitly says MUSLIMS, not necessarily ARAB Muslims or PALESTINIAN Muslims. I personally despise religion's existence because of the complicated and negative impact its had on the world, but again, I do not have a simple alternative to offer. What an unfortunate situation.
