Jewel School: River of Pearls Necklace

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

This video is the companion for the kits sold on Jewelry TV's Jewel School program on October 27, 2014.
When I filmed this video instruction at the JTV studio back in October, there were technical problems with one of the cameras which made the video unusable. No problem! We re-shot the instructions at my Austin studio!
There are no longer kits available for this project - they sold out right away! But here are the materials I used:
Size 8 Delicas for the triangle ends
Size 11 seed beads for the strands
6mm Swarovski pearls in 5 colors
Slide clasp
Fireline - 6lb
Size 10 beading needle

    That explanation of doing a brick stitch was very good - I finally GET it! And making every action visible and clear with a verbal description without a lot of unnecessary words made this whole thing a pleasant exercise for me. Thanks very much.

    I like to re-purpose things. I bought a beautiful formal gown that the bodice was HEAVILY beaded with 6 different size pearls, seed beads and sequins at a Good Will Store for $12. I have removed and sorted the pearls and I use them to practice making jewelry. This video gave me much needed inspiration so I will be able to use some of those pearls. Thanks Jill from a fellow Texan. Love your videos

I really, really love it. I am so proud of you, and your styles as it is...but this is my absolute favorite. It goes with everything I wear, all my moods, and would look great in so many different colors. So there....tee hee...Great job Jill!!!

    Hi Jill, I love a design that can go in many different ways. I am going to change the pearls and use other varieties of round beads and may be combine them with mixing fire polish beads. I am also wondering if I could use glass chips and I will try and see if they work. You could even mix match the size of seed beads so as to give it a rough texture between the main beads you use. The amount of different designs that comes from the basic design but have totally a different look is endless. Thank you for your beautiful design and for stirring my imagination. Looking forward to you next design. Chris from OZ.

    Maureen O You could do more strands - either by making a larger triangle, or else having more than one strand come out of the end holes in a same-size triangle.

    As a very, very beginner, I'm wondering how much thread to start with since there are so many strands. In general, do you ever tie on another length or should you try start with the entire length you will need for completion? Thanks for any input, I'm really looking forward to starting this project!!

  • @JillWisemanDesigns

    @JillWisemanDesigns

    9 жыл бұрын

    You''ll definitely have to add thread along the way - there's a spot in the video where I talk about the best way to do that. So start with whatever length is most comfortable with you and just add as you go.

    Jill, I have a problem with all your wonderful seed bead projects because where I live the "seed" beads are not uniform in shape and the result is just so ugly. Would it matter with this particular necklace if the beads weren't "uniform". I ask because I've started so many of your wonderful stuff only to give up as the result is awful.

  • @mandsophie
    @mandsophieАй бұрын

    This would look better using macrame instead of the seed beads, it does not look polished and takes away from the pearl's beauty.
