one of the greatest works ever written with the Hammond organ. The combination of Barres guitar work and the organ is incredible. And they obviously really learned the entire thing note for note which is really saying something.

well 6 years later, and seemingly no more Jethro Tull. Ian Anderson did however tour "Thick as a Brick 1 and 2" in 2012 and 2013 using just his name. After seeing Tull for some 25-30 times since 1974, it may very well be he's been saving the best for last. Yes his voice is pretty well shot after touring for 45 years, smoking for a very long time etc. However the shows last year were just great, mixing in some younger group members helped the energy level of the performance.

Don't set your hopes too high! We are all 35-40 years older! Just saw the TAAB/TAAB2 show last night in Sheffield. They have a great young guy who does a lot of the vocals - while IA concentrates on the flute. But it works! Just enjoy it for a great concert! Hope I haven't burst your bubble; as I said, it works and is a great show!

Well I waited 35 years to see Ian Anderson in Cardiff in May 2012 - in many ways I'm sorry I didn't see Tull in the 70's. It's funny how I'm seeing all my hero's from the 70's when they are so past their sell-by date. Yes, even saw Glenn Campbell 2 years ago!! Great performer until he started to speak...... Hope Ian has enough voice left for May 2012 in Cardiff.

Please check out the 2013 tour videos for Thick As A Brick Parts 1 and 2 - Not touring as Jethro Tell, but as Ian Anderson with band. I multimedia production of the entire Thick As A Brick album, and new music for Thick As A Brick sequel, Part 2. I agree Ian's voice appeared to be going, but from what I've seen and heard on the current tour, he has regained much of his chops and still plays a mean flute and beautiful acoustic guitar. His voice definitely is better on the current tour.

Just got back from TAAB in Cardiff. After all the reviews and misgivings I didn't know what to expect. Brilliant! Ian was well, er, Ian - and still playing like a hero. The band is faultless, the set was quirky, the video montage was a bit pointless, however, I waited 40 years to hear the virtuoso flautist and was blown away. If you don't 'get' prog rock then don't go. Did it work? Oh yes!! Did my wife hate it? Oh yes....................

Always felt Anderson was a modern day travelling minstrel in the honored tradition of the Middle Ages. Indeed, his music reflects it even in style. Incisive, political and very listenable. Always deep thought involved, not mindless ear candy or butt wiggling crap like "musicians" put out today. Too bad once their aging audience dies off, there will be no one to listen any more, at least in my opinion. At least they had the last fifty years!
