Just want to say, 0:39 seconds in when he jumps out it tilts a bit as if it was floating which just looked really damn cool to me. Ya, it’s just the suspension reacting to all that extra body work and weight and the balance being weird, but it reacted in the perfect way!

I just realized who he reminds me of! ferris buellers pal in the movie, not while he was all morose, when they were driving the Porsche! & what was his pals name ? wasn't it Colin? I think so! ?

Who was waiting for him to get pulled over for “speeding” so that he could have a comical misunderstanding with the cop about how “of course it’s speeding, it’s a speeder! Speeders speed..” and the classic, “this is not the license you’re looking for” or something along those lines.

I don't blow my own trumpet much but I'm well happy with this, as not used an english wheel before to get those shapes and it all turn out like this it's been one of my favourite builds. I would have used bendwood wheel covers with mirrored car wrap all alround for an even better effect. Electric turbofans should have also been an interesting alternative to power the whole thing autentically.

Awesome build guys! I've been a metal worker my whole life, and I must say your curved panels turned out so nicely. It's probably a bit heavy, but certainly sturdy. With a tig welder and semi-soft aluminium sheet, the metalwork would be almost two thirds lighter, and easier to form. The speeder should be on display for sure.

Yeah, the dimensions don't look quite right when he sits in the seat. The vehicle may be to the correct scale from the toy, but I don't think the toy is quite correct. Luke Skywalker looked much more comfortable in his landspeeder.

theres a dude at ren faire in so ca who took a mazda miata and made it a land speeder. looks so cool, Even has a working rs unit in the space behind the cock pit. Street legal. I asked him if he ever gets pulled over, he said a couple times a week but only got one ticket so far. He even added a light saber holder on the center divider

You would be amazed how much 80's toys are worth. I saw about 2 yrs ago a guy who hunts those toys down. He found a Heiman guy worth $2,000. And other stuff.

The original had a 4 speed 750cc Reliant Bond Bug in it, the whole thing was basically built round a Del boy van which shared same engine and chassis as the Bond Bug.

That is absolutely awesome. Only thing that would be cooler would be if you built it without wheels and used the old skool hovercraft method of using a flexible material like a tarp (though something stronger) being inflated with vacuum cleaner fans (though obviously something stronger).

Amazing job. Just amazing !!

Next episode: Colin builds a full scale Deathstar.

i'd love one of these for going around. iirc Lukes had storage under the hood. you could probably find some space in the body to store stuff, as well as make it street legal.
