Well technically the expert is right because what he made was an imitation of a lightsaber. It was extremely cool and awesome but it has a power pack and it doesnt behave like what is shown in the movie.

I find it fascinating how people feel comfortable critiquing and making demands regarding something they cannot even begin to comprehend, all while their own contribution to the world is akin to making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

Hacksmith literally made a real life lightsaber, not a one to one replica but one to the point where it is just as efficient as the movies. It does not get any better than this, this is their peak.

This is very inspiring. I got chills the first time the blade came out of the lightsaber because it looked so real and I felt for a moment that we could finally be great enough to actually build Starwars fantasy technology. You have all my respect!

I remember featuring it on my page in social network. And how you were very careful and mindful with lightsaber in hand, wielding it as far from your own body as possible. This is amazing, and your progress in just two years is great. Let the Force be with you!

During my experiments research with fusion I need the way my reactor shielding from overheating. All conventional means seem nonfunctional. Then a couple of days ago a musician was playing a piece over. And one of the unheard no she played cost of reactor to distort. So taking this in I started researching sound waves. And booyah there it was my answer. The sound waves allowed the reflect before it even hit the shielding wall. With further testing I believe this is your answer to making a real photon blade.

This is actually crazy, this is the closest anyone has ever come to making a realistic lightsaber, I feel like you just made history

I get to use a plasma cutter at work and sometimes when i use it i put the star wars soundtrack on in my earbuds. Plasma cutters are far and away the coolest tool I've ever come across...even though they're kind of terrifying.

This is the wildest thing I've ever seen. I can't believe we're at this stage of the lightsaber development journey.

I can't believe that these guys had so many comments of people trashing their lightsabers. Who cares of it's a metal rod? What these guys have been able to accomplish is simply amazing. Everything these guys do is revolutionary. They work so hard to do all of this, they're incredibly passionate and dedicated. I can only imagine the type of knowledge, intelligence, research, personal sacrifice, stress, and testing that has gone into everything they've been able to accomplish. Honestly, it makes me angry that people want to crap on something just because it's it doesn't live up to the perfect image they have in their mind. If these toxic people think it's so lame and stupid, go make your own damn lightsaber. Oh yeah, you CAN'T, because you're not one of the HANDFUL of individuals on the planet earth that possesses the drive, dedication, and expertise to create something like this. I give you mad props for acknowledging what your sabre isn't, as much as what it is. It may not be a lightsaber in the traditional sense, but it's as damn close as our technology will allow until we discover kaiber crystals or their equivalent.

So if I acknowledge that my piece of string isn't a light saber, the fact that it's not a light saber shouldn't be a knock against it? They made some sort of plasma sword, that's not worth the praise of, "hey, they created a lightsaber" as if "lightsaber" weren't the single most popular sci-fi weapon ever. You should be mocking these idiots for falling so far short of their mark.

@@dev_kyle1293 Wow. You are really missing the point. They acknowledged that a true lightsaber is a fictional weapon, so of course they're gonna fall short of that. Which is why I said it may not be a traditional saber but they done a hell of a job within the limits of our technology. There have been people claiming to have made lightsabers before but I give these guys credit for acknowledging that it isn't a true saber. Which was the main message behind my comment, and I'm not sure why you felt the need to condemn them for trying to do the impossible as opposed to appreciating the effort.

Bartek Bartek still have at least some proof to back up your theory. His designs are based off of objects in movies that don’t exist, at least not yet. He’s not making everyday items here. He is using his imagination to create objects and props from movies we love and adore. So have a open mind and don’t jump to conclusions. He’s an amazing engineer and if you had proof of your work and it caught the eyes of everyone I bet yours would be as well.

i like that this only exists because some people called the other one a “hot stick”
