    I feel the same as you! How exciting that there is not just one road to heaven/ enlightenment, but rather many roads to choose from. The most important concept to learn regarding religion or belief is that LOVE FOR ONE AND ALL NEEDS is what this life is SIMPLY ALL ABOUT!!!! We need to stop looking at the trees and focus on the forests, so to speak.

    As an agnostic atheist I respect your religion of Christianity on the New Testament and Jesus it’s whole message is filled with unconditional love,peace and happiness, ❤️❤️❤️ respect, but I do not not believe Jesus was God or the son of God but an Enlightened human being who achieved a curtain state of consciousness, and found the divine spark in every living thing in the entire universe he was the just the only one to achieve enlightenment in his time, which is why I believe they crucified him was because of his knowledge and Greta wisdom that everyone at that time did not know and understand his teachings they got afraid and killed him, but even with our different beliefs why do we have to argue amongst other another, we do t we can all operate in peace brother❤️❤️❤️

    I found something to be quite interesting in my life in regards to Jesus and Buddha. As a born and raised Christian, I grew up with Jesus, and I've always loved Jesus, but I was disappointed by the Church. I found that, although the beautiful teachings of Jesus were taught there, they often weren't followed by the adherents (including myself). For so many years, I tried my best to truly live like Jesus by following the practices laid out by the Church, but I always failed to live up to the standard. Interestingly enough, it wasn't until I encountered Buddhism that I was really able to begin to embody the teachings of Jesus. The teachings of the Buddha explained the HOW, in a simple yet powerful way. All of a sudden, in the light of the knowledge provided by Buddha, I was able to truly understand and live like Jesus. As a Christian, this was quite profound. Now, I simply seek to go deeper along this path. I am still an infant but I once learned from a wise Buddhist monk that, "every step of the journey IS the journey." So, I am content.

    @@AgesofAges I am trying to learn about Buddhism and Sikhism (I think that is what it’s called) because my friend does not believe in Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that scared me so I am learning about both religions and break it down that Jesus Christ is the way and truth of life. For we know that there is a God which is our father, I don’t want my friend to live life in sin I want her to convert into Orthodox since I am Orthodox.

  • @AgesofAges

    @AgesofAges

    @@toxic_plays_yt8915 That's amazing brother, I am Orthodox too. Only problem I've had with the Church, which I called out in my original comment, is that I've yet to find anyone who talks about mindfulness like the Buddha does. There are some saints that hint on it, but they do not go into the great detail that the Buddha does. Also, there's no meditation practice. We do have the Jesus Prayer and the hesychastic tradition, but this type of practice seems to be reserved only for monks. I frequent a Buddhist monastery in my area that teaches lay people how to meditate, and it's very welcoming to all. They told me that I do not need to be a Buddhist to practice there. That was nice to hear, since I don't plan on becoming a Buddhist, but I do believe that there are many great takeaways from Buddhism. For what it's worth, I've found that the people at the Buddhist monastery are more Christ-like than anyone I've met in the Orthodox Church (including myself), and I feel that I've become more Christ-like since practicing with them. I know that what I am doing is very controversial to the Church, but I can't deny the fact that it's helped me live the words of Jesus Christ in a way that the Church never has. I will continue to go to both Orthodox churches and Buddhist temples in the future as I don't see a problem with it, even though others might. I've also found that I don't seem to be alone in my thinking. I recently came across a book called, "Without Buddha I Could Not be a Christian". The author talks about how Buddhist practice enriched his Christian faith.

    God has certain degree of enlightenment. He has certain degree of omnipotence and omniscense. He is still in samsara, and hence is not freed of karma, no doubt God has exceptionally planted great karmic seeds in many of His previous lives and hence accumulated exceptionally great positive karma, which makes Him a God. But the Buddha has absolute enlightenment, has no more worldly desires, and is no longer subjected to any forms of karma, hence He will not be reborn again.

    David Hawkins explained it best: Jesus Christ taught the way of salvation, the way of unconditional love, which is a very realistic goal in this domain. The Buddha taught enlightenment, which is the complete emancipation from all attachment, desire, aversion, ego clinging and self - a condition so far beyond any comprehension and verbalization. In this domain this is an extremely difficult, arduous attainment due to the tremendous negativity. The Buddha did not teach of "God" due to the various belief systems and dogmas around God. Extremely naive Christians believe that if one is a Buddhist that means they are not a "Christian" and thus "cannot be saved" which is pretty stupid if you think about it. As the old saying goes, to become a better Christian one should be a better Buddhist, and to become a better Buddhist one should become a better Christian.

    As a a Christian who also respects the teachings of Buddhaism I can see a lot of similarties between the Buddha and Jesus the Christ. Both Christ and Buddha started out with a life of privilige and authority, Buddha being born as a prince, and Jesus being the son of God who lived in Heaven. Both humbled themselves by accepting lesser positions in life, Christ chose to be born in a small town in the accient Middle East to a poor carpetter and his wife. Buddha gave up all his wealth and possestions and became a peascent and a begger. The Christ was tempted in the desert by Satan, and the Buddha was tempted under the bodhi tree by the demon Mara. Both preached forgiveness, mercy, compasion, pasifism, and love for your fellow man/woman. Both preached against the evil's of money and greed. Both taught their disciples to humble themselves and to not to do good deeds in order to gain praise from other people, but because it's the right thing to do. I could go on and on. I wouldn't be surprised if Buddha was a precuser to Christ in some way. 😁

    I guess what it comes down to for me is that in Christianity we put a lot of emphasis on love (agapé). I always find myself going back to 1 Corinthians 13’s description of agapé as well as its emphasis on maturity. It never states we will get it perfect but that in time we will see what perfect love is. This in connection to James mentions suffering and in John says greater love has no one then those who lay down their life for their friends. Bushism emphasizes a lot on detachment and avoiding the pains of life by avoiding the seeking of pleasure. For a Christian, the pleasures of life are God’s gifts, so long as we don’t place those gifts in the position of god. Even then, to love someone so much that you are willing to give your life for them is a form of attachment. I don’t know of any other religion that puts that much emphasis on love for another person. For me, it’s not so much just the attachment, I think it is important to love wisely and to do it for the betterment of the other person. Yet, I just have so many examples of insane acts of love from my Christian mentors. One of which did lose his life for someone else. At his funeral the amount of stories that people had on how he effect their life had me smiling through my tears. To me this is what the heart of Christianity is. I know my own heart, I cannot redeem myself, that’s why I surrender my life to Christ. For me, I can only hope that God use me to to impact people in the way my mentor did.

    Far from rejecting Jesus I often refer to his teachings. To make such an impact in just 3 years compared to the Buddha's 45 years of teaching is "truly" outstanding. Maybe this can be attributed to the Buddha coming 500 years before Jesus and laying the foundations for subsequent teachers. Peace with you.

    Very interesting, and I myself and looking to learn more about Buddhism. Please, correct me if I am wrong, can you still be a Christian and believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God while also reading the words of the Buddha and incorporating his teachings into your life? In a crude comparison, it is similar to how the early Church adopted Greek philosophy into Christianity. A Christian can adopt Buddhism but still be Christian. I have much to learn!

    Jesus was Buddhist in very high probability given that this entire region of Middle East and Europe under Alexander and Greeks had accepted Buddhism and Brahminical teachings. Emperor Meander was declared Buddhist and his empire was the biggest of any Greeks, even bigger than Alexander. Alexander himself had got stunned by the cultural richness of India and saints sages and men of wisdom he saw here. He accepted one of such sages as his Teacher, Calanos. Many Greeks did not return back and stayed back in India and accepted Buddhism. Later Romans also were deeply influenced by Buddhism and had very close ties and trades with India through Egypt ports. Jesus had many years of wandering in India after which he became Christ. He had teachings in India. Christianity is a forced religion done in the name of Jesus to control power. Neither Jesus wrote Bible nor he started any religion like Christianity. It is Church Pope and their sects who have done this all and ruled till this date with lies and deceit only. Jesus was either Buddhist or Brahman as his conduct and preachings were too much close to Hinduism/Buddhism. Interestingly no enlightened man in history ever started any religion be it Mahavir or be it Jesus or Siddhartha Buddha….religions on their name were started when they died and unelightened followers took over. For enlightened souls religions don’t exist but only God and his presence is felt.
