In 1973 my wife's sister kept bugging her to come to a tent in a bean field in Costa Mesa to hear a preacher named Chuck teach the bible and hear some Christian rock/folk music. When the band played she recognized them: it was the Road Home and she had danced to their music at a nightclub in Newport Beach previously. She was shocked to see them in this tent. She was a cocktail waitress at the Red Onion restaurant in Palos Verdes at that time and we were dating. When she told me she got "born again" that night in the tent I was blindsided because she was somewhat of a hellraiser and the change was a dramatic 180 degrees. We got married and spent the next 39 years learning the gospel from Pastor Chuck until his very last time in the pulpit in 2013.

I was there in the tent 1970, a hippy with long hair in Costa Mesa Cali. Was baptized in the ocean by Chuck Smith. It was a rich spiritual experience for sure. will always have fond memories of that time. Love Song Band, Lonnie Frisbe, etc

I got saved in September 1970 I was 15 years old, the best ever revival in the air !!! They called us Jesus Freaks and Jesus People ! I’m still walking with Jesus !!!

I understand thinking that God is part of mythology but to put Jesus as part of mythology is to show ignorance. He is a historical figure.

When I was your age, I also did a lot of worldly things and most of them I am not proud of bec they brought me to a spiral of darkness and purposelessness. But Christ redeemed me, brought me to life and freed me from depression, resentments and many things that enchains me. Christ gave me peace and joy in my heart. He is indeed so powerful. I hope and pray many people will know Christ and that He will reveal Himself to them. His love and amazing grace is beyond I can describe.

Just saw the film in a theatre this afternoon. My review: It is a rare thing when: a) I watch a movie in a theatre; and b) I can't think of anything negative about the film. I give it a solid grade of "A". This movie is a must watch, especially during this time period of negativity and possible revival. Let's flood the theatres with people and support it! Praise the LORD for this production!

I haven't seen the movie, so I can't speak to that as what we need in today's time. I'm sure it's a great movie and provokes fond memories and wonderful feelings, but that's not what we need. Feelings and emotions are fleeting and untrustworthy. We're living in the midst of an evil and wicked generation. The love of Jesus Christ, the only Way to our Heavenly Father, (John 14:6) is most desired and welcomed, but what we need now is what God desires and says in 2 Chronicles 7:14, "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."...That's what He is waiting for. Perhaps this movie and revivals that are going on presently, are His last call before He shuts the door and says, "Depart from Me, I never knew you." Matthew 7:21-23 "Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever." Hebrews 13:8 "God will hear and answer them- Even the one who sits enthroned from of old- Selah. With whom there is no change, And who do not fear God." Psalm 55:19

Except the fact that the film completely ignores what actually happened, the two men never truly reconciled This is ultimately a BS propaganda film that is well done in terms of using big name actors, expensive sets and good story writing but severely ignores Frisbee's true self, his actual preaching and message Frisbee was deeply involved in the gay community of SF and did copious amounts of drugs. Frisbee only found Jesus by doing LSD and thought he was a prophet and even possibly Jesus himself. The man preached about UFO's and conspiracy as much as he did Jesus This is nothing but a Calvary Chapel Propaganda film pushing the same nonsense to recruit young people into the American Christian Cult Pushing the myth of the rapture and disguising legalistic Christianity with the provocative ideals of Pentecostal versions

I am an atheist, and I found that trailer very moving and life affirming. The idea of people coming together and overcoming differences is something that the world could use a LOT more of! :)

It definitely speaks to our generation today, and it’s very similar to how I believe we need to be reaching out to the new age group. The Jesus Revolution is a must see. Very powerful. No one left their seats during the whole movie. Even during the credits. The movie goers were groups of old people and right before the start of the movie came groups of young people. It was amazing!

I ended up in a bean field too in July of 1978 (Jesus Northwest), a concert prepared for about 5000 for 3 days camping......40k showed (hence, spilling into the bean field).....never seen a group so convinced of Jesus Christ, so convinced (the last night) of sin while Keith Green preached (hard).....I was a 19 year old kid, my life changed radical, even to this day...have you ever seen 40,000 people cry?

Oh my!!!!! My dad worked for Chuck Smith and God used him as my mentor the first decade of my life and Greg Laurie is such a beloved part of the Body at our Calvary Chapel, I'm so unbelievably psyched that this testimony is being released! Glory to God! I pray all the time for church to come back to beaches and His love to spread throughout the cities like wildfire! Let no believer be ashamed of the name of Jesus!!!!!!!! Let Hallelujahs ring!

However real love has the ability to see all the true dimeinsions of your neighbor and still be an advocate for their ultimate success rather than just accepting their places of decay. When you value someone, you cannot stand idly by to watch them sink into known pits, and then pretend you watched them drown out of care for their worth. No you risk getting your sleeve dirty to grab their hand and yank them out of the muck, whether they like or not. Mere tolerance is often enabling of untenable behaviors by cowardly obfuscation. A dereliction of duty by failing to judge the logistics of what is actually transpiring is no sort of compassion. Love means bothering to look ahead for obstructions and the courage to reach out and turn another's wheel back toward the better, come what may. This "accepting" what is wrong rhetoric is complete gobbledygook drivel planted by the deciever. Love doesn't accept the harms of sin, nor ingore them while they burrow and fester. That mumbo jumbo stuff about accepting every bad behavior and not hurting feelings for the sake of not judging is New Age BS and will lead you no where. READ YOUR BIBLE people, and ask God and the Holy Spirit for discernment. To open up your spiritual eyes. Satan is out here deceiving and devouring those that are not strong enough or well equipped. Got baptised at pirate cove in 2011 few years later pastor chuck passed on but he's so alive and perfect in heaven. Jesus told me this 🙂back then and i stopped weeping immedietly. My older sister was part of this, and it changed her life in many wonderful ways. I wish I had understood it better at that time. My sister died in 1983, but I know that she's a big reason that I found Jesus later in life.

@@FreedomBeaconMinistries all the people in the theater were clapping and cheering when the one pastor left from one side of the church and went and sat with the hippies on the other side, and the entire theater club again went to the young man got baptized in the water. It was so fun to be a part of the Christians to watch that movie!

Pastor Chuck had a huge impact on my life spiritually as a very young Christian believer in Jesus. As a young Army officer stationed on the DMZ in Korea in 1977, me and two other soldiers used to sit and listen to Chuck's bible teachings on cassette tapes. He was and still is a mentor to me in and through his books, teachings and through "The Word for Today Bible". I thank God for the ministry of Pastor Chuck Smith. What a blessing he was to so many. Moreover I loved Maranatha Music and all of the early Christian music scene...Bethlehem, Mustard Seed Faith, Chuck Girard and so many more. I look forward to seeing this movie; it looks great from the trailer.

I’m inclined to agree with you, that it’s happening again after enjoying it throughout the seventies. Of course it’s different this time & I’m a 61 year old woman now, but definitely a follower of the teachings of Jesus Christ. Wouldn’t take anything for my personal relationship with Him, although I don’t try to force my beliefs on anyone else. God gave each of us free will, so it’s as simple as choosing to accept Him or not. I’m sure happy that I did several years ago bc He’s my best friend in good times and bad. At this time in my life, I would almost be alone without Him, although most years with Him I was surrounded by diverse people bc I don’t judge anyone; it’s not my job. Haha I can’t even judge myself, so trying to live up to my potential is a full time job that I won’t win at bc it’s too late in life. Makes me even more grateful for Him bc He loves me regardless of my short comings, not because of them. So I can keep trying to be more like Him anyway, until I leave this world, and hopefully help someone else in some way before I go. Gee I hope that you are right! Would love to see it again; a great wave of Love sweeping across the world like it did in the seventies. That time proved Love conquers all, and I’ve been concerned it would be forgotten as many have been trying to erase it from history. GBU and the makers of this movie for reminding everyone to love one another. It’s not that hard, and much easier than hating each other simply bc we are all different. Raised in Huntington Beach and a neighbor took my sisters and I (I was 9 or 10) to the Big Tent and we sat on the ground up front. I remember the music and the crowds. A couple years later a neighbor boy led me to Christ in his driveway after shooting hoops. What a time it was! That shot of the actress playing Greg’s future wife smiling through the fence makes you feel young again. So sweet!

It's a film about religion and faith....... But when you strip all of that away, its really a film about loving yourself and loving others. A film about trying to figure out where you belong in the world and what is your place in this beautiful world! That is something anybody and everybody can relate to! Amazing film!

My husband and I took our son and daughter-in-law to our local theatre. We purchased our tickets in advance. Jesus Revolution movie is so beautiful and inspiring! Kelsey Grammer is our absolute favorite actor of all time, and once again, he hit it out of the park! Thank you, Pastor Greg Laurie, for sharing and spreading the word of Jesus!

Saw the movie 12 times so far and this was my life also and came to Jesus many years ago out of the hippy drug lifestyle and have been free through Jesus ever since and still a hippy but now for Jesus 😊

Saw it yesterday and it was Amazing and it made me feel Alive and I Teared Up about 15 times ! I’m Catholic and the Only time I felt Non Judged and felt love and Kindness was in a Christian Church just like this movie! My dad, may he rest in peace, always talked about this movement. He was a wild hippie and found God and knew Chuck and Lonnie, Chuck ordained my parents marriage. When my dad first went to the Calvary church, he brought candy and coke and was treating it like a show lol 😂

I saw this movie last night and it was incredible! Having grown up in the hippie era, it was easy to relate because I used to be one of those that got involved in drugs and a rebellious lifestyle. That is ... until Jesus stepped in and saved me! This happened while I was stoned nonetheless and I had no idea how my life was going to change. I was destined for hell until the Holy Spirit filled me and changed who I was from the inside out. Thank you Sweet Jesus for all you have done for me!!!!

This is a movie that will reach the unreachable and love the unlovable. Many will brought out of the darkness into to the light of His Glory!

Chuck Smith made a HUGE difference in my life as a new believer way back in 1979!! Love him and can hardly wait for this movie!!

Although the journey has at times been rough, I have been a devoted follower of Jesus for a bit over 27 years. Pastor Chuck (I miss you so much), Pastor Raul Reis & Pastor Greg Laurie have been my radio/internet guides all through those years. I am nowhere near where I want to be in my walk with Jesus. Someday I hope to attend services in their beloved churches and hear them speak in person- Pastor Brodersen as well. I know the story and have heard it numerous times. Watching the trailer & seeing it presented in movie format is going to be special. I can feel the tears already. This is going to awesome! Thank You Lord!

This is SO beautiful to learn of the Jesus Revolution that took place in the 60's and 70's - we need more of this today! The world isn't gonna change but we can win more souls for God's kingdom at least with this kind of inspiration ❤

I had no idea about this movie until today (3/7/23). I was a teenager in the early 90's, and I remember going to the Harvest Crusade in Anaheim back in 92, 93 and maybe 94. I moved to Oregon in 94 at the age of 15, and here I am at 43 and I still remember those events quite vividly. I will checking out this movie for sure!

I grew up in the 80’s going to Harvest and Greg being our pastor my whole life. I can’t wait to see this movie.

I was going to watch this excellent movie for the second time this afternoon. Problem was that the next two scheduled performances were sold out and I didn't really believe it at first, I figured I needed to refresh the touch-screen with the seating choices but no, no available seating. And I went home happy about that, actually, fantastic to see so many people discovering this chronicle of the Jesus Movement. And I got saved in '74 at the age of 14 after a summer of listening to KFAX in San Francisco and I have to give a nod of appreciation to a girl at school who was a smiling Jesus freak like all the time. I moved away shortly after getting saved, my travel-crazy Dad got a job in Europe, but I'm sure she was still letting her light shine for the Lord at Oceana High in Pacifica. 😀

That was a great movie. I've been to a Cavalry Chapel, and I didn't know their history. God can never be defeated.

Absolutely incredible! Great acting, writing etc. Having lived this in our little town of Ironton, OH back in the 70's the Jesus Movement truly was a nationwide event. Still enjoying the music from that era to this day.

I remember hearing about The Jesus Revolution from my parents and when I first saw The Jesus Revolution on KZread it was incredible. I once made a christian short film that took place in The Jesus Revolution called Flowers of Hope and I hope, pray, and believe that another Jesus Revolution will happen again, because that's what are world needs.

This is probably one of the best movies I have ever seen by far. If only today's youth would understand the true meaning of love and the feeling of spiritual awakening. Such a remarkable and beautiful thing. Technology is making people forget where we come from and who we are as spiritual beings.

May there be another Jesus Revolution today that brings revival.

I wish and pray that this movement of unconditional love and welcoming sweeps across the world again and again. It’s hard to be shunned by my church and see the love a single man was able to head- I pray more followers be like him

Sometimes I think some of the churches in North America wouldn't have let in Jesus Himself because he was not rich (by Earthly standards), non-white and an oddity to them. They're fine with His teachings, but embracing others that don't look like them or speak like them seems to be an issue in some churches (not all, ofc).

I was blessed to see this movie in a preview screening last evening, very moving, emotional and unbelievable! I can't wait to see it again and again! A must see!

I was born again thanks to another great man of this era, the one and only Chuck Missler. RIP.

Asbury revival happening right now and spreading to colleges and universities across this country, two weeks before opening. Could God’s timing be more perfect! ? Praying for another Great Awakening!

I absolutely loved this movie! 5 stars!

This movement had a giant impact on my life. After growing up in a church that didn't really preach the Bible, someone opened the scriptures for me, and I met Jesus in 1971. For almost 30 years I wandered from church to church, never finding one that exactly followed the Bible as I had come to understand it after receiving Christ. Then in 2000, I was invited to Calvary Chapel by one of their pastors. What Calvary was teaching was exactly what I believed and was searching for. Today, I am one of three elders in a small Calvary Chapel fellowship in rural Utah. I can't wait to see this picture. However, because of the dominance of the regional religion, it won't be shown locally. I'll either be making a long drive or waiting for the video release. But still, I can't wait.

Even after Death, Chuck’s testimony reaches people! I had no idea this movie was about him. He’s helped me in dark times listening to him on the radio!

This was truly suchhhh a phenomenal movie. I feel so inspired and have such a deeper desire to continue being loud about Jesus !!

Took my wife this weekend. Best movie of the year. If you are in doubt consider this: seeing it in theaters is a good way to register a vote with Hollywood about what type of movie should be successful.

The amount of comments here are so moving and touching ... I was thinking about seeing this movie for a while. But never had to chance too . I was a follower of Christ but i walked away from him and ended up doing alot drinking and experimenting with drugs to try to fit in . But now im on my on my path trying to connect and walk with him .

I just saw this movie in the theatre. What a great true story portrayed with such passion!

What an amazing time. I was 10 years old when I accepted Christ. It was at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa. Does anyone remember the different bands playing there like Love Song. Also, when we moved from the little chapel to the Big Tent. The nights would get so cold but that didn't stop any one from coming to worship and praise God.

Karli, I was a little older was there at the little church that became Maranatha Village/Bookstore. I remember on New Year Eve helping re-stake the tent as Santa Ana winds tried to take it down. I was baptized at Little Corona, took busses to Long Beach, San Diego, to see all the original bands. I remember going to Knott's Berry farm when Jesus pretty much took over the park. Such an important time in the world and my life. We need this so bad now.

Also remember going to Ham's Country Cookery after Monday night services. Greg was usually there eating too if you hung out long enough. Such fond wonderful memories.

Such a great story; I can’t wait to see it on the big screen! Also, so excited that Jonathan Roumie is in this!! Looove his work in The Chosen.

Our country is still a dark and divided place that still needs Jesus. A lot of great Christian music came out of this movement--new updated Christian music that drew people to Jesus Christ.

We saw it this afternoon. I was of the age that experienced some of that, back in the day. What an awesome movie that everyone needs to see, then DO! It was nice to see Kelsey Grammer playing such a great character. I hope Hollywood pays attention!
