Christianity; The popular belief that a celestial Jewish baby who is also his own father, born from a virgin mother, died for three days so that he could ascend to heaven on a cloud and then make you live forever only if you symbolically eat his flesh, drink his blood and telepathically tell him you accept him as your lord & master so he can remove an evil force from your spiritual being that is present in all humanity because an immoral woman made from a man's rib was hoodwinked by a talking reptile possessed by an malicious angel to secretly eat forbidden fruit from a magical tree. Sounds perfectly plausible.

Pretty good. I'm still not convinced the serpent was Satan. I'll add to the silliness of the story by explaining. It took all the way until the Book of Revelation for the authors to possibly realize there was a huge plot hole at the beginning because snakes can't talk and finally refer to Satan as a serpent after all the other names he was called in the book. Even after doing so, they did not link him directly back to the Garden of Eden story. Also, there's no reasonable explanation as to why God would have punished all snakes to crawl and eat dust evermore if what happened was just a possession of a single animal by Satan. Finally, if a snake stood up, (somehow without legs, or just coiled on itself as cobras continue to do even after being cursed?) started talking to Eve, and she didn't call shenanigans immediately, and instead listened intently and believed what it said, we must believe that snakes could stand and talk all along and this wasn't a suspicious event. Or if it was a suspicious one-off, it would it mean that Adam and Eve were highly gullible adults with child-like brains due to lack of worldly experience, and couldn't be held accountable for anything, let alone original sin with which our species and the whole world was cursed.

Yeah, well.... Most people have this vacuum in their hearts, which they desperately try to fill, by believing in a Deity ; desperate to make sense out of chaos and the pain of human existence. I have, like many others, wrestled with this for a long time. Psychologically, it is excruciating, and exhausting. I still want to believe in a Devine power, because it is so comforting.... However, I have found it to be increasingly implausible, in spite of the many 'convincing' people I have listened to, who argue for the existence of God.

Question for theists: _"how do you even know about your "God""??_ Answer: "someone told you." Yet how did they know about this supposed deity?? Answer: someone told them............. = and on and on it goes representing assumed validity usually for no other reason that a person "wants to believe". Moral of the story: above illustrates the nature of the spread of religious beliefs. It further however begs to ask = "where" did said constructs come from?? The answer as always is ignorance about the world around us + mans' penchant for wanting to know a thing. A child has nightmares of monsters hiding under the bed. So how does a child know of monsters?? Answer: conditioned belief from their environment - the entertainment genre in this case. The child was exposed to the concept and their imagination took it from there. What is really in play here however is the child is ignorant of "the unknown" and subsequently = juxtaposes "monsters" onto that to rationalize away that ignorance........... - which is what you see here. Early man lacking understanding of himself and the world around him created "God(s)" to obviate that lack of understanding so as to give him the illusion of understanding. Over time that belief construct was codified into modern religions.
