For anyone wondering what is the purpose of the center differential Ok so i will try to break it down, get ready for a long but hopefully educative response. The differential allows one side to spin at a different rate than the other. Same concept for the differentials between left and right wheels, or the differential between front and rear wheels. Extra knowledge before we dive in: the front and rear differentials are necessary because when making a turn, one wheel will spin more than the other (lol geometry) Now for the main event A center differential isnt necessarily "better" than stock depending on what you want to do. On paper, differentials "send power to wheel with least traction" which sounds counterproductive but heres why they are used. For rock crawlers, you would want a locked differential (or no differential at all) so if one wheel goes in the air, it wont just unload (take all the power) and spin by itself while the others are on the ground with no power being delivered. However, for something as wheelie-happy as a revo, you want the power to go to the "least traction" because of the following No differential: You are at low speed/not moving. You jam the accelerator and BAM vehicle starts doing a wheelie, all the weight transfers to the back and lifts the car on its rear wheels. You keep the trigger jammed, car keeps doing a wheelie and possibly flips onto its back. This is "bad" because it puts all the force on the rear differential. With a center differential installed, the moment the front tires come up off the ground, the power "cuts" off from the rear, and gets sent to the front wheels that are still in the air (unloads on the front). This essentially stops the weight from being transferred to the back. Since the rear wheels "lost power" the wheelie action stops, and lets the front wheels lower and catch grip. The moment the front wheels touch the ground and catch grip, rear wheels will gain power again. This all happens in milliseconds. So the end result is that all 4 wheels will be planted to the ground equally delivering power, instead of having it all transferred to the back. PS: i should prob get back to studying so wont proof read. Sorry for any typos. Feel free to correct me or add anything i missed. Hope this helps!

My merv was pulling to the left last week on full throttle. Pulled apart my center diff and low and behold the diff fluid was low. I just put back in the stock center drive gear so I don't have problems in the future. Runs a lot straighter than with the center diff with fluid but now I need throttle control to control the wheelies. Such is life.

I put one of these in my Slash 1/16 and it handles much better. The turning circle is significantly smaller and it no longer plows when you let off the power. I'm surprised by how much traction the truck still has on rocks. The thick oil that comes with it does a good job of keeping power going to the wheels with grip

Yes. I have it and even put in 100K diff fluid. Waste of money. Turns front tires into pizza cutters. People add heavier fluid to make it perform more like the stock closed diff. Just use the stock differential -- the car is way more fun and no more ballooning front tires. I don't see the point in essentially having an open differential that allows the front axle to spin out of control.
