I have the Woodpecker's coping sled. The problem is that the bit height has to be change between routing rails and stiles. This is unacceptable. This should be fine for stiles, you just have to hold the work piece firmly.

Can you tell me how much height that adds ie from table base to highest point with the positioner on the table not flipped up out of the way. I have to store my table under my mitre saw table and have limited space. Thanks!!

Yep, any minute now I'm going to order the Mite-R-Slide, despite their web site's referring to it as "The Mite-R-Slid™", "with pre-set dentent locations. I look forward to using those "dentent locations". I hope their machine shop handles details better than their proofreaders.

Great video. Mine appears to be sticking after I get past the router bit towards the end of the sliding stretch. Any recommendations on that? Or do it not matter since I wont be going past the router bit anyway? Thanks for your advice.

I would try lightly greasing the rail and verifying the shaft isn’t under tension in such a way that it would bend. Any bend in the cylindrical shaft could cause the fence to bind when traversing.

I am using Generals cast iron table top mounted on an incra router stand. The reason I did it this way was to guarantee a flat router top for years to come. The truth is this may have been overkill, but it works for my purposes.

I was wondering the same thing. I like how the incra stand has the 1/2" grooves so you can easily box it in with plywood. Did you mount the cast iron top perpendicular to the stand so you still have support for the positioner to the back or did you add additional legs under that?

Just wondered how this worked out long term? Do you still use it? I see the Mite-R slide is coming available in a couple months and I would consider picking one up to add to my LS positioner if you think its still the best option to replace the stock right angle fixture. Thanks

Long term it has held up very well. Tolerances are great. I would not say I use it for every project, because I just use the router fence for most of my operations, but I do occasionally need a “cross-cut” of sorts and this device works really well for that.

Good video, thanks for posting. I have the Incra LS postitioner on my table saw with a router table on each side. I am guessing this would not work well for my set up? Plus I use the Jessem clear cut guides for the table saw and thinking this would also get in the way? Does seem like it's better than the incra right angle feature. While I love Incra stuff, and have alot of it, have to say, Jessem seems to make a little better products. They are so heavy duty and well built.

Ron Killian, That has been my experience with Jessem vs Incra as well. I really like my Incra, but the Jessem stuff usually seems way more robust. I think it just comes down to Jessem using steel more frequently in their tools.

Robert Baker, Prepare yourself Robert, because I have a long response on the Hammer K3. I will eventually post a review on KZread, but it probably won’t be for another few months. Below is my saved comments on the machine. Pros Power - more than enough power (4.0 HP) for any hobbyist needs. How sharp your blade is and the type of blade plays a much larger factor. Capacity - it can handle a 12” blade, which allows for 4” of cutting capacity. The 10” cabinet saws allow for about 3” of cut capacity. Table size - it’s longer, so it’s easier to manage your lumber when performing ripping operations. Lumber won’t tip on you. It also has a nice optional outfeed table accessory. Rip fence - versatile. Fence. Hardly any flex and the aluminum extrusion is much flatter than my previous saw stop. The only downside to the rip fence is that it’s difficult to calibrate to parallel with the blade. Weight - 700 lbs of machine vs hundreds of pounds less for a cabinet saw. Won’t budge if feeding material through. Sliding table (48”)- I use mostly for cross cuts. You may want a longer table if doing a lot of ripping, or just buy a track saw. Sliding motion is smooth, and straight. The sliding table needed to be heavily calibrated. It was sitting about 1/16” above the cast iron table (it is now dead even). In addition, it was not moving parallel with the blade when I first got it. It is currently running true and perfect now. Crosscut fence - long and straight. Markings are accurate. Flip stops are fantastic, but they needed calibration. Overarm dust collection - works great, standard equipment. Cons Blade height/tilt Handwheels - There is only one handwheel that is shared for the blade height and blade tilt. You physically remove the hand wheel between each mechanism. It works fine, but it’s a bit annoying. Stops work well. Was not calibrated. Crosscut fence - no positive stop for 45 degrees, although you could easily make one. Crosscut Fence 90 degree flip stop - not accurate has/had play. Pushing on the crosscut fence can put you out of calibrate. UPDATE: I bought their updated crosscut fence stop, which really fixes this problem. Please watch Marius Hornbergers’ video on fixing the Hammer K3 flip stop, m.kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZK6a0c2xfZCqd9o.html. Do yourself a favor and ensure any new saw you buy has the updated version. Zero clearance Insert plate not easily purchased. Cabinets dust collection - spiral ducting Attachments for going down to 4” hose, but not up to 5”. Dust hood has a lot of gaps. End stop/table hook for sliding table- not useful. Clamp - too bulky/clumsy. Dado tooling limited to about 1/2”. Does not have 3/4” capacity. Dado blade can only be 6-7” in diameter. You can’t use your 8” dado blades for this machine. I bought Forrest’s 6” blades. They work fine. Sliding table lock - not smooth to operate, but does the job fine. Need it to work for rip cuts. It can also take your saw out of calibration if used incorrectly. Fit and finish - the gray coloring is different for the extension tables vs the body of the saw, but who cares. It still looks good.

I would definitely buy the Hammer K3 again. I would like to upgrade to a Felder someday, but that’s more a want than a performance need. If I went back to SawStop it would be for their ICS model (more cast iron table space), but I really prefer the European sliding table right now. I really do think SawStop makes a great machine, but I love the versatility that a true European slider offers. Americans used to make sliders too. A great example is the old Oliver and Tannewitz table saws made out of Grand Rapids, MI. I was actually really close to buying an old Oliver 260D, but I just don’t need more projects.

Hey Preston -- Thanks for the video and I agree about the Incra Right Angle Fixture, they could have done better. Are you able to clamp boards to the fence when you are making joints? If so, what are you using. After watching this video, I'm going to order one. No doubt, that is the ultimate router table system.

I like to use the clamps used for track saws. Dewalt makes cheap clamps that fit in the T-slots. Leigh also makes clamps, that work well for smaller pieces, but there is a little more setup for that. It's the same clamps they use for their FMT. Just about anything works, but anything that can ride in that T-slot is the most versatile. Best of luck with your new setup. If you get a chance take some pictures and post a link.

I really like the hammer K3, but it is not perfect. I also have the hammer A3-31 with the spiral cutter head, so I am familiar with their equipment. I used to have a sawstop, but I had the under powered professional version. I considered getting the industrial version, but I always wanted to try out the slider. The slider on the Hammer K3 is a dream for cross cuts. My cuts are square and accurate to within a few thousands of an inch over several feet, which is more than good enough for what I do. You really don't need better than that for wood working. Rip cuts were easier on the sawstop, but when I needed a perfect rip I would just send it back through the planer to remove any saw marks anyway. Another thing to keep in mind is the sliding table is elevated a few thousands of an inch over the cast iron top, so when ripping your jointed cut won't be perfectly square, but on thinner stock you won't notice. Also, the sawstop tables aren't perfectly flat either.

Nice! I'm planning the same mod for mine. The Incra right angle jig is a joke. They should be embarrassed by that piece. Worst part Incra does a lot of business with JessEm. You'd figure JessEm would give them a little constructive criticism and up grade the LS-positioner with the JessEm unit.

It is unfortunate that the right angle fixture is a little sub par, but I understand that they are trying to hit a price point with their system. I do love their system though. The ability to index perfectly every time is unbeatable. Even the wood whisperer who has a larger budget than just about anyone on KZread is, or will be soon, moving to the Incra setup.

Devils advocate. Your kidding with the shim job you did! First you only need to do it once. If you spend a bit more time on shimming you can dial it in perfectly. It’s not hard. And maybe you could clean up the mess you left behind. It only would take a sharp knife to clean up the shims. So what are you gaining for $250? The slide looks like you can adjust the angle but when would you use it? Personally I don’t see you are getting much advantage for your money. I added a backer board to my right angle jig with a dovetail for a matchfit clamp. Works great and easy to replace.

Yeah, you make some good points, but this is better. I have used both and I will never go back. Also, I dialed the shims in perfectly, but it doesn’t move as smooth as the Jessem. I don’t do angle cuts that often, but when I do, I have the right tool for the job.
