Plenty of dark black men in movies and tv, he should have specifically said *'dark black women'* .. Now that shit is revolutionary af! They usually find a black woman heavily diluted in european blood to represent black women. However in this movie you had a black female cast that was mainly fully african or fully african-american. I salute that shit. And they better find a east-african woman to depict Storm when she is introduced in this franchies.👏🏽👏🏽

3. I LOVED Black Panther. Like I’m an MCU fangirl/nerd, and it made it to my #1 spot for favorite MCU film. Even still... the only Oscar award I would perhaps qualify it for in terms of sheer cinematic excellence is Michael B. Jordan for Best Supporting Actor. The thing is, MCU films are fantastic at providing great comic book adaptations, but comic adaptations are intrinsically not competitive with the art of original screenplays or even the rare book adaptation (such as LotR). Black Panther was great and I loved it (saw it 3 times opening weekend), but it wasn’t FANTASTIC. However, I hope it opens the door for the production of more original black fantasy/sci-fi films that can be the unequivocal best of their year.

MJB’s performance was good, but he doesn’t deserve best supporting actor, he actually doesn’t deserve best anything, he just portrayed a guy who is mad and wants revenge, anyone can pull that off!! Chadwick on the other hand, is more deserving of an award!! I felt every scene as if it was me in his place, the brother is a very good actor!! MJB is a great actor, love him 2, but Chadwick did his thing!!

What kind of standards you panther/mjb naysayers are using to look at movies ? It sounds like you guys have no notion of what function movies actually play in societies. Movies have a social and political function. They reflect the ideas and beliefs of the dominant culture. Please read SOME film history so you don’t sound ............dumb.

ruby scott I think we are discussing more of the likelihood of it being nominated by the Academy who often overlook movies based on comics, horror and comedies. The Oscars have a preference for dramas and historical/period pieces that are Oscar-bait for the big awards like Best Director, Best Picture, Best Actor/Supporting Actor. I don’t think anyone is arguing it wasn’t a phenomenal film.

Wish I was part of tat doc because I got a story to tell

1. The problem with making the Oscars more diverse is really the fact that we’re still not making enough films where the director and/or cast is of color. It’s slowly getting better, but if you think about the sheer number of primarily white films being made, they just have the strength of sheer numbers on their side (if you make 100 films, 5-10 are bound to be excellent). 2. Also, if Get Out deserves any award, it is the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay. The writing was absolutely brilliant. And I say that as both a voracious reader and an aspiring writer.

He mentioned his mom and black women a couple of times and I would have liked to hear more about that. She said he must be so annoying in an argument?
