Interesting that when a biracial man says this he is taken seriously. But when a dark skinned woman says it, she is told she is being bitter and divisive. This is why allies using their privilege to speak out is important.

@26:00 the topic of colorism was spot on. As a brown skinned woman. I have no dog in the light skinned - dark skinned fight, but light skinned women need to stop! I have a DS best friend, and a very LS sister. LS people do get favored treatment. LS women need to stop trying to equalize their experience to DS women’s experience. It’s not the same.

The white privilege and light skin privilege is a direct result of people giving them that "privilege." Honestly, their privilege would go away, if black people really learned to love ourselves and stopped viewing those who look least like us as superior. Dark skin should be the epitome of beauty for us. The next time you see a dark skin child or if you have dark skin children, bestow lots of love onto them and favor them, above all else. Go out of your way to tell them how beautiful, good and wonderful they are. This will ensure positive self esteem, because the child will begin to see themselves from a privileged standpoint. We have the power to change things.

The Bougie Wine Chick i think you missed my point. I’m not speaking about white ppl. I’m speaking about colorist skin tone shaming among black ppl.as a brown skinned woman, I’ve never been attacked by a black person, because of my skin tone. I’ve never been bullied or insulted about my skin. Ever. I’ve never been told by a man i was interested in that I’m too dark. Or light. EVER. My best friend is dark skinned, and has experienced all those things i mentioned. And more. i seen her be emotionally abused for being darker. I seen someone I’m related to be told that she thinks she’s all that for being light skinned and her hair. I’ve never experienced that. That’s what i mean. And when i say “ i don’t have a dog in the fight” again, I’m speaking on the issue between very darker skinned ppl and lighter skinned ppl. Not white people. Not institutional or situational colorism in the work place etc. I’m speaking about bullying. Insults specifically Dark skinned women are often gas lit to believe colorism isn’t real, or harder on darker people. I know for a fact it real and harder on darker ppl. from what ive seen. And from what i haven’t experienced myself. God bless

He is a very critical thinker who pointed out the ironies and nuances pertaining to marijuana, race politica and his existence as both a Black AND white man. He gets his light-skinned biracial privilege. I am also aware he is embroiled in a nasty divorce allegedly due in part to his infidelity but as it relates to race in America, he has earned my respect.

Sway suddenly understands colorism all of a sudden but chastised a black man for writing a song about dark-skinned black women to celebrate. Never forget that Sway is the same man that said, "But why are you making a song just about dark-skinned black women? Other races of women are queens too." Yet, suddenly he understands that not everyday there's a need for a tragic mulatta centered piece of music or a song celebrating light-skinned women (as if the whole industry isn't doing that on a daily basis).

My roommate was a drug addict and would pass out for days in our door room. I never saw a cop on campus in my entire time I was there. I mean hard ass drugs... he's right. My tall black brother is a great kind guy. He has been stopped and arrested about 40 times for walking home from work or school. Why? I think mental health and weed needs to be brought up more. U hear all these positive things but never the negative. I got massive problems that weed caused so saying its all good isn't right. I support it being opened up n legal too but just need those mental health concerns with it. Like cigarettes have cancer warnings. Everytime I say this people always say ohh u where having other stuff too, nah, it was marijuana that caused it, tried some other recreational stuff later just for fun on an odd weekend but first thing was weed and weed only then got withdrawals that had me hospitalized. Yes I probably had problems before weed but weed did make it worse and did cause negative mental health. So when all these ads and crap saying weeds all sweet, nup, wasn't for me. Ruined my life.

Trust me Sway's good. But he may not have the start-up 7 to 8+ -figures liquid that investment founders may ask to be on the ground floor. He said when with Kanye he's invested in several businesses and he revealed that he's doing well with the cannabis stocks. I respect his hustle and quiet $$$ moves.
