It’s been 15 years with a dream, children born people passing on, building since 2016 big shed started in January 220.8 cubes of concrete going into it countless cups of coffee and we have finally arrived at this point THE COWS HAVE ARRIVED I can’t even tell you how exciting it is :)
in 2009 i had no experience of farming or the realities that came with it. That soon changed when I met my other half Roy, I had a job as a carer and in every spare moment threw myself into farming. I had only ever driven a Nissan Micra and had experience with horses, I learnt the hard way as nobody had the time to show me and soon after arriving I found myself mothering on calves to three quarter bred limmy cows. We spent every available moment on the farm between our day jobs. Fast forward to 2016 two children later we moved into our very own farm overlooking the northern Pennines, Laitha.
we are in a transitional period at present and will finally be milking cows and making the final switch later this year, after years of planning and implementing infrastructure we will be milking 120 Jersey cows on two Lely robots. This will be a huge change and a steep learning curve

I am overjoyed to be a farmer. I feel so fortunate every day to wake up and do what I love and even better share it with the world and hope it inspires more young people from Preston to spread their wings and think outside the box the world doesn’t need more childcare workers or hairdressers it needs more farmers.

Just found your channel and love your content. We farm in Canada and put 2 lely robots in 2 years ago. We went from a double 8 parlor to robots and love them. The one thing we like is you're not tied down to a set milking time. We have two children that are busy with sports and one of us would have to miss a game because of milking. Now we both go and we just keep an eye on the robots on our phones. Good luck to you and Roy and your children on this great adventure you're about to begin.

Excellent vlog, well done to everyone getting you to this point especially you and Roy for seeing the vision and achieving it. Made me smile that they were secured in the shed with the farmer’s favourite baler twine 😂😂 Your aviation update really should have been the Red Arrows with full display colours it would have been so fitting !

The cow transfer went really well and they are such nice tempered cattle I think they will be a credit to you as well as where they came from .You are glowing with pride you have thanked many and rightly so but you forgot two people Roy and Charlotte Ashley because without you pair none of this would happen and you should be thankful and very proud of each other .Thankyou for taking us along with you cheers

OMG is right. My eyes teared up at that first lead of Jerseys coming down the lane, I know how much it meant to you. My hat is off for the previous farmer for showing up. That impressed me. My hat is also off the the farmer who owned them previously. Nice quiet herd who was very much loved - and I know you will continue this. All the best in this new adventure. Don't worry about the kids around the cows - they will be fine and learn lots. You don't really need a cram separator for the house. Just use a wide jar and skim it off by hand -experience speaking.

That was your best video ever I was grinning from ear to ear watching that and almost in tears What a beautiful bunch of cows you've bought They settled in really quickly and look so at home and great that they pretty much all milked themselves straight away And I can see you've definitely made a friend already ❤❤❤ and it's my 60th birthday today so thanks for rounding my day off perfectly x

Watching your cows arrive was the most joyous thing I have seen for ages ,especially when you were scraping with the skid steer and they were all following you. So funny. I have always loved Jersey cows . When I was young we had one we had reared from a calf called Delaware because she was a brand New Jersey. Oldies will get the reference to a late fifties song by ,I think. Perry Como. Love your channel which I have been watching since seeing you being totally gobsmacked with the thought of a toll motorway with Ollie.

We have followed your adventure into Jersey cows, they are certainly very pretty! We hope your new business continues happily and you both manage to get some "me" time!! Farmers seem to find that quite difficult. My husband Robin says "You can't make all 130 of them pets". But I guess you can always have your favourites.

Best of luck with the whole project now that you have actually up and running, I am looking forward to seeing your beautiful new shed covered in show-cit ( being nice, for KZread) , I hope you give yourself an the Roy lad a bit of a chance to just do the routine stuff for a few days as your cows seem to know what they are doing and you guys look tired ( again being nice, wrecked might be a bit more accurate) . Oh and it’s really not good to let the cows know that you have favourites, you know like children should always think you don’t have a favourite, because they are vengeful beasts and they will be waiting for that momentary lapse when you are not paying attention and they will get you! That’s right! They will poop on you when you least expect it! Welcome to the dairy farming fraternity, I firmly believe you are going to be a great ambassador for our industry. Regards from Ireland.
