It’s interesting to see Seinfeld say that Larry David is the brain behind the Seinfeld show. I’ve never seen him say it anywhere else before.

Watch ANY episode of "Curb Your Enthusiasm" -- its essentially early Seinfeld on steroids ("what if you caught someone without a limp parking in handicap?" "what if you were responsible for your aunt's obituary and there was an unfortunate misspelling of aunt?")

The moment at 7:08 really does seem a likely origin of the whole “show about nothing” thing. It’s pretty fascinating

The sock in the dryer joke is the one I retain above all his other standup stuff. Weird that he says that about not repeating jokes, though. People have listened to comedy albums for generations, over and over. I’m sure he did as a kid. We all did (I’m about his age). Carlin, Brooks & Reiner, Cosby… we’d tell them to each other and crack up.

I’m surprised that Seinfeld seemed not in touch with his singular presence when he referenced that a joke told was basically over once told. There is also the joy in recalling funny stuff alone or together. Great interview.

A lot of comedians don't actually understand comedy. As Seinfeld says here, they come up with jokes spontaneously. But they don't necessarily understand why the joke works on an audience.

. Interesting to see Jerry this early in his Seinfeld (show) run, before the show REALLY exploded into the phenomenon it eventually became. He still seems pretty grounded here, and not that he became a big megalomaniac, but you definitely DO feel that his ego now is DEFINITELY not the same as it was prior to the accolades (and CRAZY money!) he's since received since his show has gone off the air..... .
