I don't think there has ever been anyone sharper of mind than Jerry Lewis. I have a particularly special place in my heart for him because the night before my grandfather died, with a tracheotomy tube protruding from his neck, he performed a comedy skit from his hospital bed. Because he could not speak, he made exaggerated facial movements like Jerry did. That was the last time that my grandpa ever made me laugh. He had been planning to have his respirator disconnected for the previous few days, which everyone in my family knew but me. He had sworn them all to secrecy so that I would be able to enjoy that moment of joyful laughter. I am eternally grateful for that one last gift from my best friend.

Jerry cared about Sammy a lot. Good on him for helping him. Makes me forget about the nasty criticism that others labeled him with. God bless him.

Totally wrong on most of that. Frank and Sammy were very good friends with Jerry all through the year's. As far as the "phony" reunion with Dean and Jerry on The Telethon in 1976 they were still talking off and on after the breakup they would bump into each other here and there and BOTH Dean and Jerry jumped on stage in Las Vegas when either or was performing at one of the hotel's. That was later found out it was for publicity reasons (were not speaking to each other) There is a show i can't remember the hosts name Jerry is a guest star and Dean pops out from behind the curtain. I'll try to find it and reply to you again.

Search The Eddie Fischer show with Jerry Lewis 1958 Dean pops out from behind the curtain and makes a remark and then is pulled back in by Bing. There are other video clips and pictures out there with Dean and Jerry sharing a laugh or handshake etc BEFORE the "phony" reunion 1976

You know absolutely zero about them, because all 3 of them loved Jerry. Sammy was Jerry's best friend. That fact was mentioned also in this very interview where the interviewer said Sammy referred to Jerry as his best friend. Dean gave Jerry several presents that said "I love you" on them. Jerry and Frank were always good friends as well. Dean also said on camera at his 72nd birthday "I love you Jerry."

Jerry didn't mean any disrespect by saying things like, "He did everything I did," or that he & Frank "educated Sammy." But I can see how some view it that way. Much of "white culture" was learned from people like Jerry, Frank & Dean, although there were others. Sammy was the best; I will miss him always.

Why would society need to be forgiven by Sammy? He had it all...fame, money. White women, orgies, drugs and sadly society paid for his excesses, I thought he was cringe. A cartoon. As was Lewis, really.
