One of the most amazing interviews I have ever watched. I've always liked Jerry. I love his telethon... But I have never seen him in this light. God Bless him!

This interview is probably one of the most vulnerable interviews of Lewis' that I've ever watched. Normally he's "on" or he's trying to be erudite and never breaking eye contact. Here he's constantly looking away, searching for words, and you can see the emotion in his eyes. A normal human being

I've just recently started watching his interviews , he's really interesting to watch . Didn't realize he was this way in them , which isn't a bad thing . I've watched many of Gene Simmons interviews also . There so much a like , there're both egomaniacs .

Jerry is very talented individual who is not only funny but his level of intelligence is far exceed the interviewer. This was a serious interview and Jerry was indeed awesome but the interviewer wanted some amusement/ cheap thrill for himself which which was not the time or place for it. In the End of the interview, jerry did a funny thing by breaking the cigarette without bringing the performer "Jerry Lewis" which shows you how smart the man was. Thanks Jerry for also helping the kids. God will continue to bless you.

Totally agree with your comment. Very unprofessional of the interviewer, who even admitted that Jerry appeared very cerebral and relaxed, to then ask him to amp up and break into character. Jerry handled it very maturely.

Why did this man never play a gangster? Or if he did I've never heard of it. Because during this interview he was giving Robert De Niro or Marlon Brando a run for their money. Like seriously I would not want to owe this man money.

He kinda did in a small role in the film Cookie. He was going to play one in a never-to-be film called Paradise Road, which would've re-teamed him with Dean Martin in the early 1980's. Peter Bogdanovich was going to direct, and Frank Sinatra also was supposed to be cast. The producers screwed it all up.

My exact thoughts. Nice lips, great accent, etc. He was so sexy! And not only in the physical way but that confidence and intelligence and no b.s. attitude whenever he gave interviews. Definitely hotter and more appealing than any Hollywood actor of today.

Marisa Zammit you used the perfect words to describe Jerry! He definitely was sexiness in motion! I love that!!! He was the most beautiful man I have ever seen! He was obviously gorgeous, but it wasn't only that! He had that "something" that I can't explain that made him so uniquely appealing! Such a loss :( :( R.I.P beautiful man!

Jerry Lewis was a force of nature in comedy and entertainment. An amazing survivor, given all the things he had thrown at him. He was also a genius at what he did best. He can rightly be called, "A Legend," - like Sinatra, Dean, Sammy, and Judy Garland.

Pardon my French, but that was kind of a dick move at Lewis suddenly asking him to perform, even after he'd explained how his job as a comedian could mitigate serious discussions with people. He's lucky he didn't get kicked right the fark out. That's just seriously really rude.

Later he and Joe became good friends (take a look at the much more affectionate interview in 1979). Occasionally Interviewers have to ask contentious or seemingly crass questions - admittedly Lewis had to put up with a lot of difficult questioning, but that is the lot of celebs!

  • @poppycock6572

AGREED 👍 Like when he said that "Joan Rivers set Jews back a hundred years"... the interviewer stated that that was awful and he stated that she had said that "The only reason he did the Telethon ever year was to stay relevant". I was pissed and Mr. Lewis backed my initial feeling that the Telethon was to him as was to anyone committed to doing that marathon of a show... for the children with that disability. What she said about him and everyone else involved was astronomically insulting and hurtful. If she had ever apologized (which she never did) it would have been prompted by backlash and the scramble to salvage her own career... a career that was largely based on dismantling other public figures.

This is true. I am a Pisces and I cant say no when friends or family ask me for something. For example my twin sister asked if she could have a pair of my jeans and then another and another, i literally have 2 pairs left hanging in my wardrobe. Ugg wish i could change. H Jerry Lewis really loved his "kids" and the foundation.

I'm guessing the reason why he's sitting like that is because of his back pain but it still looks silly especially because he's playfully fiddling with those string or cords or w/e like a little kid would. I just adore him 💚 I wish I could meet him and just have long intellectual and philosophical discussions with him and just pick his brain...

There's nothing more drab and sad as the common comedian. As much as I am indifferent to Lewis act, I like his rejection of doing the funny voice for this ill impersonation of an interviewer*. One might imagine him* asking General Eisenhower: "Mr. President, just for good old times sake - please send some batallions to Normandy!"
