I was a kid when "Superclash 3" happened(I was born in '79)I thought it was cool to have a unification match between the AWA & WCCW. I was sick of WWF being all over the TV dial & it was always nice to see other promotions operate. Being sick of Vince's product didn't just start in recent years it goes back decades, ladies & gentlemen!

Back in the 80s and up to the attitude era Vince geared WWF towards kids so he could sell action figures, shirts, bedding, the whole shebang! So you had wrestlers playing characters like a pirate or a clown or almost any occupation imaginable.

Vince ended up killing off Professional Wrestling in the end. Everybody talks about how much money he made, how he globalized it, etc. Etc. Unfortunately now nobody makes money and nobody watches it except for a bunch of Internet nerds. It is simply atrocious and unwatchable anymore.

Personally, one of my all time favorite match. Top 10 for sure. It was like a boxing match, a true fight, and it truly feels like Jerry and Kerry were fighting to death to be the World Heavyweight champion. SuperClash 3 as a whole was a failure and a train wreck, but that main-event was truly legendary in my opinion. Thanks Jerry for that match! ✌

Many regional stars went to the the WWF for more money and exposure, but they also gave up the push, and Main Event status they might have enjoyed in a particular territory to become mid carders in The WWF, but at the end of the day, the talent had to do what was best for them, and their families.

The idea was that the AWA had a great history in Chicago, which it did. Problem was Lawler and Von Erich didn't (well, the Von Erichs had something of a name in the area, but obviously not compared to Texas). Another reasons for it being in Chicago was that Chicago was a major media centre, which it was. Of course, it probably would've done a much better live attendance had it been in Memphis or Dallas/Fort Worth.

It wouldn't have mattered where they held the show, it was going to be a disaster. Lawler and Von Erich had already faced each other numerous times on both Memphis and World Class tv, all with screwy finishes so fans had no reason to believe this would be any different. And it wasn't.

Of all the promoters that could've weathered the storm of the 80s, Verne was it. He had markets like Vegas. He had ESPN. He just didn't want to change his product at all. He insisted on his stale old formula and having his dumbass son be the booker. Yes Vince stole a lot of guys from him. Everybody knows that. But Verne made the decision easy for guys. How many wrestlers have a horror story about Verne Gagne and money?

the government also really messed him up with that eminent domain case tho. not only did he lose all the money he invested in his property, but he spent thousands more fighting it in court, and eventually lost everything. if he'd had that property and money to draw on then the whole wrestling war might have been different. remember; vince's deep pockets are what let him buy all his competition.

Nobody got paid that night. Verne told the wrestlers they'd get paid by their respective promoters after the pay per view numbers came in, then refused to pay any of the other promoters claiming the show had lost money. Jerry Jarrett and Jerry Lawler were pissed and in retaliation, Lawler refused to defend the 'Unified' world title in the AWA. Thus leading to Verne badmouthing Lawler and later stripping him of the title.
