Alot of people do not know that Jerry started out playing Bluegrass.It was his first love.Now they only talk about the "Dead",and his best stuff was like this!I love the "Old and in the Way" stuff.

It goes way deeper and older too. Check out the hart valley drifters. An early blue grass group jer was in. They have an amazing sitting on top of the world. Good contrast to this. The last record Garcia ever recorded

Nope! The Animals version is better, timeless and infinitely more powerful with nuanced mystical undertones on top of the exquisite soulful mourning expressed directly from the heart by Eric Burden belting out those lyrics! And the keyboards rival The Doors best stuff, just as bonus reason why The Animals version is beyond reproach! And I'm Jerry/Dead fan too but let's keep it 100.

I had the Pizza Tape original dat clone and put it on cassette to go on vacation in Florida... the deadheads in Jax loved this tape, so I emailed TR's brother Larry rip, and told him to get Dawg to release it quick before all the deadheads had it.

I never knew Jerry Garcia & the dead's music or rather didn't ever take the time but lived with the legend. Hearing this has me sorry that i didn't stop to realize (when i could've).

Tony told a story how he wouldn't trust any old bum with his precious antique...to carry it in for him... I was that guy, Pour House Raleigh 02.
You can tell through the whole album that Jerry isn't used to playing with time. Tony and David are masters at it. That solo at 3:37 was so much better because tony and David went on a "Chinese interval" during Jerry's solo. Great stuff
