I agree but i I also see feel like it also goes to show who Tyler really is, yes he’s grown in many ways but I sense with change in friendship, confrontation, or love interest. He can be really dismissive or unaware of the other parties feelings. True he didn’t have to respond but saying he’s like a brother to him could have been said in text, via call. I think Tyler’s humor is what makes this “awkward” which the interview isn’t awkward at all I think they were just in two different places emotionally.

I didn’t interpret it that way. I think he is looking for a more clear & extensive answer from Tyler about their relationship moving forward. Jerrod has the perspective that Tyler is brushing his emotions to the side, whereas Tyler probably just doesn’t really process it as a big deal, because he doesn’t have that same level of emotional attachment.

Sometimes, youre just taking in information and your brain is more focused on intaking than creating a response. And then sometimes you dont have one, and thats perfectly fine. I’m a big fan of just saying “Mmm” Some people dont listen at all and are just thinking of what they want to say or argue back.

There is so much going on in this clip I don’t even know where to begin. At first it definitely seems like he Tyler was brushing off the situation and trying to make a light of it, hoping that Jerrod would do the same and act like it’s not a big deal so that they can move on in their friendship, and when Tyler realize that he was not gonna get that out of him, the emotion changed very quickly. it was almost passive, aggressive and watching the two of them eat it was like Tyler was taking out his anger on the food. Did you see how fast he was eating that comparing him and Jerrod even the way that they were sitting in their body language, quite fascinating. Some might say that Tyler has every right to be the way he is in this moment because he’s terribly uncomfortable. He just wants a friend out of Jerrord and Tyler should not feel pushed to compromise his feelings. I feel terrible for Jerrod in the moment. This is just my opinion I’m not a professional in terms of reading, body language or understanding personalities.

I went to Jerrod’s comedy tour two years ago. They locked up our phones so he could be more candid. He told the story of him confessing his feelings for a friend, only to have the friend reject him and ignore him. The whole time I thought he was talking about someone he knew back in N. Carolina. I was not expecting it to be Tyler, The Creator. And now that I’m watching them, I do not see what Jerrod sees in him. Unless it was for the cameras, Tyler is clearly uncomfortable and emotionally unavailable. Jerrod, honey, you deserve better in both your friendships and intimate partners.

Honestly

A lot of times, when people hear "Honesty is the best policy," they think don't lie. Truth is honesty is also not spinning, not deflecting, not distracting, not evading. Cowering out of a response can leave things worse than an honest, mature response might.

This is perfectly stated. 💜 We call it "being honest," not "speaking honestly." Honest communication doesn't mean "telling the truth when I've been cornered and interrogated." Choosing not to acknowledge a deeply personal disclosure by the other person is dishonest in a couple different ways to both parties. If you're unable or unwilling to be honest with yourself, you're being dishonest.

Yeah but also convincing the person you have a crush on, especially someone you call your best friend, to have an incredibly intimate conversation on camera that will be peddled out to the masses is not a mature thing to do and also not productive. Tyler seemed very aware millions of people were in the room with him, so I can understand why Tyler was so uncomfortable, also Tyler did give him two very direct statements. “You’re like my brother,” and “I’m big straight.” These two sentences alone should tell Jerrod exactly how Tyler feels and what boundary Tyler has placed on their friendship. It’s Jerrod’s ability to accept that to see if their friendship continues.

Awkward rejection and miscommunication is what happens in everyday life. I’m confused as to why people say these bold statements and don’t got anything to back it up.

High key the show is artistic and beautiful. The way it’s shot the camera angles are just poetic. Everything about it is. I love it thank you jerrod

That's the thing, this is also scripted. Like there's no way it's not his new reality show is gonna be a comedy.

Its devastating to see someone be so vulnerable and it be received so negatively. Be an adult and address how you feel, dont treat someone youve been a friend with for so long like a random dude.
