That’s the point. When you’re usually the smartest and somebody makes you feel inferior it will have that effect. The JOKE revolved around that in a way that made some of us black ppl feel uncomfortable. Understandably so but I understand what he’s saying fully

@@09token That he felt so inferior to a white man that it reminded him of a slave and his master? As a white man let me just say it isn’t funny but half my family would have loved that joke because they love that mental image of a black slave a little more than they’d like to admit. This may sound petty, but why is he dressed this way? This is work, and the look is unprofessional. It actually contributes to people not taking his comments seriously. It's not necessary to be formal, but at least put on an overshirt. And, it's disrespectful to his hosts. Call me old-fashioned, but it is especially important to show up correctly when showing up for other black people, as a sign of respect. He didn't go on Stephen Colbert dressed like he just got out of bed. His visual presentation is passive-aggressive.

There’s an entire brand of clothing sold by an old retailer , American Apparel, which mostly sold basic, label less, inexpensive & plain clothing to the masses, and it was super popular. Plus rich people don’t believe in free brand advertisement which at the end of the day all name brand clothing usually is. RuPaul always says that she only gets in drag when there’s a check involved. That said, from a broader standpoint I’m sure the interview was free so there was no need to don Sunday’s Best clothing to have a casual conversation with TBC. He wasn’t sensitive about his jokes. He was upset about folks saying that he and his boyfriend engage in sexual slave play, when he doesn’t do that, nor did he say that. He was also upset that ctg only listened to what tmz and other similar platforms said about the joke instead of actually listening to the whole joke, which makes sense. I’ve never seen a comedian at his level give a ish about whether folks like every joke they tell. Not only do comedians usually have tough skin about that, Jerrod clearly told ctg that he doesn’t care if he thought his joke was funny or not…. He just wanted to clarify what he actually said.

Everything is me, me, me, me, me! Incredibly pretentious as well. And all this shit he has been doing lately seems like self-hate, self-sabotage, self-harm and forcing the public to watch him do it. And it's clear that this all boils down to his parents, their rejection of him, and his religious beliefs. He is such a messed up individual, and it's disturbing to watch. The one thing Chapelle never has to do is explain what he means. You either find it funny or you don’t. He never tries to please everyone and thrives from the criticism, not apologise and change just to keep people happy. In my opinion, he wasn’t explaining his jokes. He was upset about folks saying that he and his boyfriend engage in sexual slave play, when he doesn’t do that, nor did he say that. He was also upset that ctg only listened to what tmz and other similar platforms said about the joke instead of actually listening to the whole joke, which makes sense. He just wanted to clarify what he actually said.
