It’s INSANE how accessible Jermaine Dupri makes himself. The man is on the level of Dr Dre, Puffy, Jay-Z and beyond, but is EVERYWHERE! This man moves around like he’s just a regular cat tryna to get out on… Respect to the legend JD! ✊🏾

ATL. Give them their respect. They helped pave the way in building generation of hip hop business ownership. Music isn't just art, it's also a business way of life as well. Dallas Austin and JD doesn't get enough credit like they should.

Atlanta deserves ALL the props, from the early 90s to now. The city been entertaining the world, but I think currently there's too much gentrification and too much of a housing and affordability issue for rap/hip hop. The city was at it's best creatively when it was flooded with housing projects and nearly all black. The city is undergoing and evolution right now.

I thoroughly enjoy this segment and seeing all of you together to talk about the Hip Hop culture of today. Coming from an era of Run DMC LL Cool J GrandMaster Flash Whoodini Eric B & Rakim EPMD MC Shan DJ Quick and the list goes on. The Rap culture in my opinion has drastically changed because of the young artist intercepting and integrating a new sound. We need to embrace and nurture this sound but at the same time we need to coach them and train them while not stepping on their toes and allowing them room to grow into Hip Hop. Whether you're from the West Coast, East Coast, South Coast or from the Mid West Hip Hop is here to stay and there is enough room for everyone. Thank all of you for your gifts and talents in making and keeping Hip Hop alive to this very day!!

@suigeneris886 that's inaccurate sir. Crystal Jones started the group, the original founder and concept creator. LA Ried, Babyface, and Pebbles developed them. Dallas was ru ning around with Another Bad Creation as an unofficial member going by the name General Austin at that time. I will correct myself and agree he is credited for writing and producing, but a lot of times, credit is not always given to ALL the people who are involved. If the industry wants to MAKE a name for someone they favor, they get the credit as if they were they are the masterminds. Where are the hits now, tho? Atlanta has several people who are trying to write their role into history to make it seem as if they were that instrumental to the Atlanta music boom, we call them Revisonists. Dallas is one of many. Media is the manipulator of the masses.

Why do regions outside of New York always seem to be seeking validation from other regions. Hip Hop is universal. Whoever has a place,, has a place. Hip hop is the only genre that argues and bickers over trivial matters. Everyone make your contributions and rock out, it’s a place for everybody.

When you do something great and feel like you get shitted on just because of where you're from, you feel a kind of way. Not just from peers in your culture either. When the critics start trying to ACT like they know what they're talking about, all of a sudden they're mentioning as many 80s/90s rap acts from NY as possible and excluding a bunch of the west/south performers....

Social media made the sound accessible everywhere which kind of killed the regionalism. I think the respect in part ain't there because they have few to reference points to certain older artist. Everyone knows jay z because he broadened his brand outside of just music and stayed consistent during the height of hiphop popularity. Same with 50 or Snoop which is why respect 🙏 is afforded to them. Artist before them ain't make records or were relevant so their are gaps for young folks as far as certain artist. If you don't live with certain records or seek to expose yourself to older music, how can you even come to appreciate it????

I think they should’ve had another female rapper because wasn’t Da Brat born and raised in Chicago So does she really qualify as a artist from Atlanta? Or should they have had a music artist who is in the Hiphop industry that was born and raised in Atlanta. ? I think that would’ve made more sense

@@vontesantos5981 But that’s totally different being born in another place and raised in the next is totally different. But if you was born and partly raised in one place like Da Brat did and then she moved herself to Atlanta. I love her I don’t live there that doesn’t mean she’s from there. That means even though she knows where she comes from. 21 Savage was born in the UK that’s where I’m from East London and his mum move to America when he was about 10 or 11 I just remember he still knows he’s 11 years when he was in London, but his teenage adult life was in America
