He wasn't really prepared for this song at all but was told to sing this 7 minutes version. The lyrics was also very complicated and no repeated chorus. Despite all that he was amazing even if he didn't have time to prepare and wasn't very familair with the song. He had a few drinks and he just ham it up along with the lyrics.

The crazy thing about this performance sounding remotely good is that apparently he barely had time to rehearse it beforehand and as far as I remember, has admitted to kinda winging it on the spot which is probably why he struggles in a couple places with both notes and lyrics. He was also slightly tipsy and still managed to sound that good. I highly recommend checking out other performances of his cause it’s true, the man has an insane set of pipes.

To be honest this is a "Celine Dion" song that's he's doing a damn good job of covering. Its a house band/background singers in a club setting, so the mics and mix aren't the best. And Jeremy is always kind of funny and playful in these "club" video's. His cover of "She Used To Be Mine" is really good and he does a good "Let It Go" from Frozen...but he's no Mitch Grassi! You don't get the Tony Award Winning studded Resume that Jeremy has if your not really good. If you've never Celine's video for this song, you should watch it, it's amazing.

I mean it's 90s Celine Dion, you can't expect much but cheesy romance vibes I love this video though 😂 Essentially this venue does like themed nights for Broadway performers to come up and sing songs that meet the theme. This was an all Celine Dion song night.

Maggie, I believe he did this at the request of his friend Ben. If I remember the story correctly, it was Ben's birthday or something and he requested this performance which (Jeremy didn't really want to do) hence the silliness! I don't believe this was ever meant to be a serious performance.

I love his "How I saved the greatest showman" video. He recorded all the demo's for the soundtrack and because Hugh had cancer's removed from his nose, he wasn't allowed to sing at the pitch session for 20th century

This was from a show at 54 Below called Broadway Loves Celine Dion. Different Broadway performers singing her songs. Jeremy had come directly from an all day rehearsal of a Sondheim project. He had no time to rehearse. He is incredibly talented, I have seen him live several times and he is an amazing performer. There are some studio recorded music from him but most of what you see will be live performances, so sound quality standards may vary. The trade off is you get incredibly vocals without studio enhancement. You appear to not care for Broadway or that singing style, at least that is the impression I got. Thank you for the Reaction! 🤗

Same here. He finally got hold of it in 1986 for Bat Out of Hell II, but they went w/ another track and held this for Bat III. Finally released it 20 years later as a duet on Bat III after Celine and another band had their turn.

I feel that Maggie has a lock on reacting to singers who don't have opera trained. In terms of singing, there are singers who do not have trained opera and have a preserved voice with their 70s, 80s and there are singers and opera singers who have suffered from fatigue, such as Maria Callas, for example. Maybe Maggie knows (or doesn't) that for men to sing in this high-pitched region without using a more imposed voice, as in the opera, it's MUCH MORE COMPLICATED, but it's not because the veins appear that the folds aren't relaxed or that it's not a healthy sing. Jeremy has been singing Broadway for many years and he may look young, but he is already 37 years old.

umm don't take this the wrong way, but how do you not know this song? It's like Celine's biggest song outside of the stupid Titanic song. Also, it's a New York tradition for Broadway actors to do shows like this...? Lots of shows with the same quality from, like, most Broadway stars: same quality and same style of club fun and collaboration. There's Miscast, Broadway Princess Party, etc. All just like this. It says in the video "Broadway Loves Celine Dion" - I feel like that kind of explains the whole thing? No? Just me? lol.

Jeremy and Ben Rauhala are buds and Ben tries to mess with him. He was already there to duet with his wife on Beauty and the Beast and this was sprung on him shortly before the show so Jeremy hammed it up knowing it was all in fun. It's not that is disagree per se it's more so that I sort of just think it is what it is.. it looks like a very rando set with very rando band so I am making the assumption that despite knowing this is a version has had done many times before, and everything being amazing from the audio, to the video, to the stage presence.. this honestly just seems super impromptu and I don't know if the backup or band have much experience doing this version, let alone with him. I still enjoyed it very much because it was so playful.

Maggie you have excellent instincts I just watched a review where a reactor said he fell in love with this performance only to be heartbroken when he found an interview where Jeremy said this song is ridiculous, the lyrics don’t make sense, and he hated singing it. Personally I think Jeremy has a tremendous voice but when left to his own devices tends to be too theatrical so that I walk away saying he can sing but I don’t feel anything. That being said I think his natural tendencies actually work in Newsies.
