Buying local honey helps smaller beekeepers to maintain their hives and helps bee health and genetic diversity, which are important to the survival and recovery of the species. We need bees and honey is good. Consider supporting your local honey vendors, it might cost a little more than the supermarket stuff, but you're contributing to bee welfare and helping local business, which helps to decentralise control of goods and prices away from multinational wholesalers. Trade monopolies lead to even higher prices in the long run, so try to keep your local sellers in business!
