I think about this all the time. The fact that players only get to play until they lose makes it hard to know how good the "best" players are. I hypothesize that the best players have about a 90% chance of winning each game, which means that even an extraordinarily good player has a 10% chance of losing his first game, and a 67% chance of losing before his 10th game. After 8000 episodes, you're bound to have one outlier who wins 70+ games...but then again, you watch clips like this, and DAMN! Jennings is the man.

@Anthony Churko there were decades where they had a "five-and-done" approach, where they were sent away with a new car or something after winning five straight games in a row, and a chance to come back in the Tournament of Champions. Jennings came in in the first season after they removed that rule, so imagine how many would be Ken Jennings there were in the first 5000 games.

Every time I watch Ken play jeopardy, I am blown away at how smart he is. It's like he knows everything.

I could have done that too, but if the video had shown the questions too, it would show how incredibly fast Ken computed all that.

You’re missing that he needs to know Roman Numerals but that he also needs to know whose initials they are. Competing against 2 other people. With a timer. About as easy as playing the piccolo and piano at the same time.

Actually you have to know the person from the clue as well (the portion they skipped) and quickly come up with the initials, then convert … so no, not easy in terms of processing

Worth noting that since Ken is at the right podium this was his first game. Not only did he easily answer every question in a very difficult category, but the scores show him crushing other players who look like deer in the headlights. No surprise where he went after this.

He gets asked a question where the answer is a well known person, and when he guesses the person, he has to take the initials of that person and use them as roman numerals, and then convert those numerals into regular numbers. So he's essentially answering multiple layers of questions with a very strict time constraint.

I was giving it a thumbs up until that so=called music? at the end!

No fun without the answers. Pointless video. We know he's great, how about a chance to beat him?
