Nimm den ganzen sogenannten Popsängerinnen das Mikro weg und du hörst nichts, keine tragfähigen Stimmen, meist ohne jegliche Ausbildung - dünne Stimmchen bis hin zu Geplärre. Nicht jedoch Jennifer Rush. Sie hat alles, aber auch alles: musikalische und sangliche Ausbildung auf höchstem Niveau, immenses Talent. Vor allem eine tragfähige Stimme. Sie singt auch die höchsten Noten völlig unangestregt, mit frappierender Leichtigkeit. Einfach fantastisch. (war selbst Opernsänger und weiß wovon ich rede).

Somehow, I “missed” Jennifer in her prime-in fact, I only discovered her 1 year ago. I am a big fan of Celine and only discovered Jennifer because I came across Celine’s cover of Power of Love, including Jennifer. I couldn’t believe my ears. I’m 86 and have heard them all, from Ginger Rogers to Edith Piaf to Vera Lynn. Then Diana Ross, Ella Fitzgerald, Aretha Franklin, Janis Joplin, Barbara Streisand, Dusty Springfield, Tammy Wynette, and Bonnie Tyler. Add Gloria Gaynor, Roberta Flack, Connie Francis, Laura Branigan, Linda Ronstadt, Rita Coolidge, Celine, Mariah, and Whitney and you have the lineup of the greats right up to Adele and Susan Boyle. But Jennifer Rush has the all-around best female voice I have ever heard. Her operatic training adds an unmatched vibrato containing depth and texture. It seems a lot of listeners don’t like vibrato despite the following fact: “A crucial element in Elvis' sonic signature was his use of vibrato.” Jennifer sings everything: opera, pop, rock, and ballads in English, Spanish, German, and Hungarian. She also studied piano and violin at Juilliard. She has written or co-written the lyrics and music for many of her songs, done duets with Placido Domingo and Jose Carreras, Elton John, and Brian May-sorry-Sir Brian May, Michael Bolton, and performed live all over the world-but not in America, except in March and April 1986 on the Carson show and the Dick Clark Show; that’s it. Like the writer, In a sense I have never seen a live performance nevertheless I have enjoyed this recording from the days of my youth to my now senior years. Still enjoying 16:28 !
