    Sara and the production team have created an iconic role and music in a show that could (HOPEFULLY) run forever! I hear Sara in EVERY song but SO many sing it with their own spin! Jennifer is the latest INCREDIBLE Jenna!

    One of the many things I love about this show is that every actress plays Jenna differently, and I love every single one. There's so much room for interpretation and an actors personal style

    This is such a small change but I really love the little piano riff they added before Jenna starts singing. I noticed it when I saw Sara in September too.

    I saw Jennifer in Waitress last Sunday…unbelievable! I had never seen a standing ovation during a Broadway show, but she earned one with an incomparable performance of “She Used To Be Mine.” I hope this won’t be her only run as Jenna!

    I was also there last Sunday! Huge standing O after "She Used to be Mine." I've seen plenty of Broadway shows with iconic solo numbers but never seen such a huge standing ovation afterwards, especially when it's not right before intermission.

    @@AlexHurleyMusic I never said anything about being pregnant. I said she's too old for the role. There are literally lines in the show that reference her being significantly younger. "You remind me of a girl I once knew. God, by now she's well in middle age. Probably 41 or 42. *Offended* "huh, thank you...?" "Oh god no....no no no.* This exchange wouldn't happen if she was middle age or older. The character breakdown describes her as 20s-30s. There is a reason that nearly every actress to play the role was in their late 20s to mid 30s.

    @@antheiheiant This isn't even bashing her. This is answering a question . Why did she apologise there? Because she botched the melody and was flat. That's just a statement of fact. It's what happened. She knows it happened because she apologised after doing it. Are you her sister or something? You're awfully sensitive to comments about her. Do you need a hug? You seem to be having a rough day.

  • @carr0760

    @carr0760

    No, it's in the original key. She opts down, and slows down and simplifies all of the riffs. She also sings a completely different melody on "she is lonely" in She Used to be Mine. She avoids the "high note" completely. I use quote because it isn't even remotely high. She doesn't have the vocal chops for the part. At all.

    Okay, that's what’s throwing me off! Thank you for clarifying, Like I said she's an amazing singer, I think my ear was expecting to hear the same riffs and when I didn't I was like what happened

    @@evanbole4196 you're welcome. I actually teach musical theatre, so my ear is trained to notice exactly what's going on. I do think that she's a great country singer (though I'm not personally a country fan), but she does not have a Broadway calibre voice (or the acting skills), and she clearly lacks the range and agility for this particular part. That is particularly surprising because as Broadway vocals go Jenna isn't all that hard...the range is quite contained.

    @@carr0760 I saw her live and you're completely wrong. As someone who "teaches" musical theatre I expect you to encourage your students to see someone's complete portrayal of a character before passing judgment based off online clips. Get a grip. You sound bitter and miserable.

  • @carr0760

    @carr0760

    @@seanrstephens I would use this clip to show my students an example of what a performance looks like when you don't pour your whole self into it. What it looks like when you don't connect with the material, and therefore your audience can't connect. Then I would show them a clip of literally any other person to play Jenna as an example of what happens when you do those things. This is an exceptional learning opportunity. And by the way, I've clearly seen more than one clip given that I referenced an entirely different song in my earlier comment. I will also add that I don't live anywhere near Broadway so neither me or my students have the privilege of getting to see these performances in person. As is the case with the vast majority of the world's population. Perhaps before squawking at someone to reserve judgement until seeing the entire thing in person you should consider the obvious privilege behind that statement.
