Tbh that’s the “curse” of winning these competitions. Most of the winners go into oblivion after a year or two of winning while their runner ups tend to go further in the music business. Not all the time but often.

The week she was eliminated, the phone lines in her home town were down on voting night. That's the only reason she was eliminated. And that's why the judges came up with the save. Randy said they were devestated when Jennifer got sent home.

Okaaaay!!!! I was always pressed about it. I'm guessing they were tired but a small part of me feels that they didn't think she would blow up so they didn't give this audition the time to act impressed because she didn't have the look. They didn't think everyone would be watching this particular audition for years to come because she was never supposed to win

If only Randy knew the extremely taxing demands that it takes to work 2 shows every night for 7 months straight for Disney (which is extremely demanding and picky of quality). She was MAINSTAGE PERFORMER, not playing lounge music in the atrium! As if somehow the AI audition room exceeds those demands, I think not!

Yet there are people who recognise talent when they see. If not for Randy, she would definitely not have been selected here. You can see the expression in other 2's faces. Simon was not at all interested and Paula was almost going to say no till Randy stopped Jen and made that comment- Brilliant! Absolutely brilliant!. You can see Paula and Simon exchanging glances for a sec in that scene. They couldn't say no after such appreciative comment so they just went ahead. What Jen did after that was her ultimately hardwork. I didn;t know who that fat guy was but his eye for talent was remarkable.

She's confident at her own skill but also very graceful, the way she's stunned when Randy said she's the best singer he has watched across the audition, it comes down as very footed to the ground and rock solid at knowing herself and her capability. Masterful
The fact she placed 7th in this competition to later become an E.G.O.T. is so powerful.
When Aretha Franklin specifically asks you to portray her in a film about her life story. I think that's the kind of seal of approval that's worth more to her than winning American Idol.

Tbh that’s the “curse” of winning these competitions. Most of the winners go into oblivion after a year or two of winning while their runner ups tend to go further in the music business. Not all the time but often.

I remember when she was on American Idol and I was just so impressed in awe of her talent. Simon was so hard on her because of her weight at that time. Fantasia went on to win and I always felt that Jennifer Hudson should’ve gotten it. Both ladies can sing but Jennifer touches my soul

When he mentioned her disney cruise job she was sooo excited and happy and then he followed up with "we're gonna get a better performance then a disney cruise performance right?" and you can see the happiness fading from her face. Those guys were assholes with her all along during this show and she proved to them she was born to be a star. Grammy award winning singer and oscar winner actress afterall.

I didn't like the negativity on Idol, but I don't think they should fawn all over people. Could give some false hope, and discourage others. Also gives the impression of favoritism

Cruise ship performers have the Very incorrect stereotype that they are cheesy, overly energetic 70's cover troupes, or a sleazy lounge acts that actually hate the patrons. I'm thinking he meant that image with his comment.
She deserved more appreciation at the moment from the judges because lets be honest does anyone of the judges can sing like her? I don’t think so

The week she was eliminated, the phone lines in her home town were down on voting night. That's the only reason she was eliminated. And that's why the judges came up with the save. Randy said they were devestated when Jennifer got sent home.
Remember when Simon called her fat and she didn’t fit the image? I’ll never forget that and just thinking “then what the hell is ruben studdard?!”

If only Randy knew the extremely taxing demands that it takes to work 2 shows every night for 7 months straight for Disney (which is extremely demanding and picky of quality). She was MAINSTAGE PERFORMER, not playing lounge music in the atrium! As if somehow the AI audition room exceeds those demands, I think not!

Yet there are people who recognise talent when they see. If not for Randy, she would definitely not have been selected here. You can see the expression in other 2's faces. Simon was not at all interested and Paula was almost going to say no till Randy stopped Jen and made that comment- Brilliant! Absolutely brilliant!. You can see Paula and Simon exchanging glances for a sec in that scene. They couldn't say no after such appreciative comment so they just went ahead. What Jen did after that was her ultimately hardwork. I didn;t know who that fat guy was but his eye for talent was remarkable.

I came here from the JHUD show, and she seems humble and true to herself.
People are criticizing the judges, but honestly this feels more "real" than the competitions now. It's really no frills, I like it.
