@@joelpineda4414 Jennifer was not a favorite of Simon Cowell. She was voted off in the third round. Fantasia did win American Idol that season. It turned out better for Jennifer that she didn’t win. She probably would not have been available to do the projects that bought her acclaim and respect! She now has her own tv show! 😊❤️

@@joelpineda4414 Obviously, you don’t know how American idol works. Jennifer was on American Idol the same season that Fantasia was on. They both almost got voted off but Jennifer had fewer votes. Jennifer went home and Fantasia went on to win that season. If Jennifer had won then she would have been signed to a recording contract. Since she wasn’t under contract to someone else, she was available to star in Dreamgirls! From then on her world changed and she achieved more than she probably would have if she had won American Idol that season. 😊

The irony being JHud & Fantasia are the only 2 I know from that season 😕

I love how, from the beginning, she was always confident, she knew her worth and knew what she had to bring to the table. Even with the criticism she got, she kept her head up and trusted the process, keeping faith in herself and her abilities. She never got cocky, she always stayed grateful, humble and patient. I believe that is what got her to where she is in her career today.

It did. Goes to show even the last can reach the top in their own way and time. God had another divine plan for Jennifer. The bottom two both won. Fantasia won the competition and Jennifer went on to become an EGOT. Today, both Fantasia and Jennifer are among my favorite singers. God plan takes precedence over all.

Don't agree, Fantasia didn't need this win but she won fair and square. Fantasia still would have done well without the win. She had the overall voice and stage presents. Jennifer just had the voice and still to this day she doesn't have much stage presents in my opinion. So it is what it is!! Fantasia won just like God's plan was for her to win.

Amen. I never understood why anyone took it seriously. How fair is it to vote over and over again. The only people with energy to do that were teenagers. I don't think any of them understood Barry Manilow, never mind a soul rendition of one of his songs.

Even the "top" group's faces are like WTF??!? The 3 Divas sang EVERYONE else on that stage under the table!! That's why at least 2 of them are still relevant 15 years later!!

Ryan: "You have to vote for the talent . . you cannot let a talent like this slip through the cracks." So true. History proved it.

I always thought about how sad and disappointed Jennifer must have felt that night. But thats because she didnt know what was coming for her. To me shes not only the talented and powerful woman that she is. She is also a symbol of hope, patience and resilience.

George was instructed to join the Top 3 winning group. It is ironic how he went straight to the group that were told they were the bottom 3. And he approached joining that group with intrepidation (obvious he felt inferior to the 3 divas). So in George’s mind, being told to go and join the top 3, he saw JHud, Fantasia and LaToya as the winners. Proof, even from another contestant, he thought they should have been in the Top 3

Brandon C -That is absolutely right. Once you get to a certain point demographics and voting blocks come into play. This has happened through out the history of the show. You can almost predict who will leave under these sort of circumstances. Similar vocalists do tend to eliminate each other. You also need to add the fact that Chicago had power failures that night and that is a major area from which the diva's voting block comes from. Add all those things together and this is what can happen.

Jennifer getting elimimated was already ridiculous, but Fantasia and Latoya being in the bottom three with her made it absolutely incomprehensible.

Yoday is July 31th 2022 and i was in highschool when it aired here in my country, she is the reason why i start to love soul music! America idol died that night when JHUD got booted off… it goes to show that the whole thing was a farce. Clearly is laughing at them now, with her Grammy and Oscar, wouldn’t be surprised they asked her to be a judge on the show and told them “screw the lot of you” 😂😂😂😂😂

It's a great thing that she proved them wrong. She is one of the biggest stars in the world now. But to be honest I don't believe the voting was real

It’s DEFINITELY a popularity contest. This is the very last time I watched American Idol because I’ve done many “Talent Shows” in the past!

she is an example that not always you need to win a competition to be a great star, her amazing voice has taken her until she is now

15 years later and this stills breaks my heart.

Yeah she wasn't too unpolished. Latoya was the best technical singer on this season of idol. Even Simon said so.

If i'm not mistaking, on this particular night there was a TERRIBLE thunderstorm in Chicago. The internet/phone lines were down so many that would have voted for Jennifer could not get through the voting system.

Add the fact that people tend to vote in blocks. They vote for they type of singer rather for who does the best vocal. JH, Fantasia and Latoya would be competing for the same block of voters and thus would cancel each other out. It wouldn't have mattered because JH who was my favorite had no chance to win that season. Neither did Latoya. They were fast tracking Fantasia to win early on. Simon stated after their first competitive number that She was the best singer in the show. Far to premature to make such a statement unless it is to influence the final outcome. As I said I liked JH voice the best. Fantasia sounded to munchkiny for my taste. Latoya was the best blend between the two.

Damn Fantasia said “you are my American Idol” wow. I never watched this before but talented people sense greatness like a sixth sense.

I gave it a thumbs down cause it was a popularity voting contest instead of voting for who can SING. Those 3 ladies in the bottom NEVER!!!

The top 3 singers in the competition were bottom 3. The red hair guy and the black guy were both in shock to find themselves in the top 4. Fantasia laughed and the 2 other black ladies were stunned.... what???? We the divas with gorgeous voices are behind those utterly ordinary singers? Unbelievable. The American lost its musical, ears..

I remember voting the day before , there was a power outage due to thunderstorms. My votes didn’t get to go through. Chicago was her main source of votes but things happen and she Definitely made the best of it !

And this is when I lost my love and my desires for the American Idol show I completely went AWOL after Jennifer Hudson was eliminated!! Anybody with ears can hear she is a powerhouse vocalist!!!

I stopped watching the show after they said group A was the bottom group and Jennifer got voted off. But look who’s at the top now, JHud and Fantasia ❤

And as of tonight she isn’t just THE most successful American Idol Alum, she is one of THE MOST successful and decorated artists ANYWHERE on this planet, because she just won a Tony Award, which made her one of only 17 EGOT winners in the history of Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony awards.

If you are saying she is the most successful because of her Oscar win, then okay. But I would argue she is ONE OF the most successful. Kelly and Carrie are huge superstars! I would argue as far as a musical career, they have been more successful.

Demographics, and shared voting blocks often play a big part in who gets eliminated. This isn't the first time that singers stayed on longer than they deserved.

The whole world went crazy when Latoya, Jennifer, and Fantasia were all in the bottom three together. All three ended up singing together in the last episode of American Idol ever before it got revived.

She should have won, I think, then went and won a fricken *OSCAR* WOW, Jennifer Hudson is THE awesomest success story of any talent show. The downside to all that though was her relatives being murdered. So harsh n cruel for her after all those incredible highs in her life. What a star!

I wasn’t an Idol watcher so I never saw this. To see the bottom of 3 says a lot about the show and the audience. Nearly 20 years later and the only ones on the stage that I have only heard of Fantasia and Jennifer. Jennifer showed she was a class act then and she still is….and now she has one Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony awards. She is one of only 17 people in history to win all four awards.

How they announced which group was the bottom group was class less. You just don't do that. I mean everyone in that group thought they were justifiably safe. Then to pull the rug from out of them like that was just cold. It seems that JH had a premonition that she would be the one going home.

Clive Davis, Fantasia's ex manager and now JHud's, was a long time, influential friend of Aretha's who persuaded her to select his current client over the far more suitable Tasia. Fantasia was always closer to Aretha than Jennifer.

Clive Davis was the one who wanted JHUD to be in the autobiography moive. Aretha Franklin wanted Halle Berry to portray her, but she said no way, I will have to lip sync the song lyrics. Clive wanted real vocals and a soundtrack album for Ms.Jennifer Hudson to sing on. This was a big deal and big🤑 contact for this project. Clive Davis has the money to invest in the whole movie star look for her career. THE OSCAR WINNING ACTRESS WORK MATTERS PEOPLE PEACE&LOVE

@@billyparker9048 That's not true. Aretha told Jennifer not to tell anyone that she wanted her to play her in her biopic.She told her after she went to see her in the Color Purple. It had nothing at all to do with Clive Davis. Aretha was in full control of the decision making. People on the internet love pushing false narratives.

@@billyparker9048 Clive Davis was never Fantasia's manager & even though Fantasia basically worship the ground Aretha walked on, Aretha was not close to her. Aretha said in an interview that Fantasia needed to grow up & she had a lot to learn. That was around the time when Fantasia boycotted the Grammys because they didn't ask her to be a part of the tribute to Aretha that night. That was the night Fantasia won her first Grammy.

The last time i watched this show

Jennifer Hudson: winner of Oscar! Tony! Emmy! Grammy! One of only 17 to do so. WOW Jennifer.

I love that JHud didn’t clap as the others went to the couch. Can’t even be mad she just didn’t feel like it and didn’t fake it.
