I want to believe that Lucy at the beginning of the musical was more submissive like her friend here but when she met Jekyll that’s when her hopes of a new life showed up. Thanks to him she knows that not all men just want her for her body and if she has to leave London to find the man for her, her dream, or both then so be it! But, sadly, *we all know how that turned out...*

All the women that got knocked over look the same. Is this symbolic of how they can’t be individuals? I’m not crying. You are!

Doodled Bunny Nellie def has lesbian/bi energy to me, but I’ve never been sure about Lucy? I can’t decide if I think they could be a couple or if Lucy is straight but Nellie is in love with her. I wish Nellie and Girls of the Night were still in the show!!! The women at The Red Rat are the most interesting, complex part of the show. Honestly I wish the show was about them and not Jekyll & Hyde lol.

Fearless Tree Yes, I agree! Just because two people are the same gender and have a close relationship, that doesn’t mean it’s romantic. I just wish there were more well-made historical fiction pieces (like J&H) with different sexualities represented. Since there is such a lack of representation in historical fiction, I think that’s why people (myself included) tend to believe their favorite characters might not be straight. I’m not saying my opinions on Lucy and Nellie are canon. I just think it’s fun and interesting to speculate on what relationships exist between characters that aren’t the protagonist (in any story), or how the story would be different if one of the relationships was different.

Honestly, I see Nellie's more as a mother or an older sister regardless of her sexuality (because I also know of parents who tell their children not to dream so much so they don't get hurt like they do).

I just suddenly realized this. Lucy was looking at some faraway sight towards the end. What would that be? Jekyll's house? A mansion? A family? Lol.

So beautiful,really. Girls of the night is one of most emotional songs in while musical. You've done great job in portraying Lucy's hope and her friend's despair. Thank you.

“Then why am I still here?” “That’s what I’ve been here for all along!” Oh. My. God. This musical is genius.

This song is so hopeful and hopeless at the same time. It’s sad how they feel so trapped.

The expressions in this video are really something. They don't look so dramatic, but they are sharply accurate, which makes a great impression. Especially when they change: the change in emotion always carries to the next emotion smoothly, and the stream of different emotions is entertaining and possible to FEEL for the watcher of the video. I enjoy the hard and cruel athmosphere and the mystic aura around the girls.

Oh, God. The chorus...it's just so beautiful, but in such a tragic way.

I was drawing Edward Hyde right before I saw the notification, it must be fate!

Lol! I’m here and I’m late! XD This was the most depressing thing ever-and you captured it perfectly, Michels! The fact that Lucy describes how she wants wings so she can fly away is nothing short of tragic (given the time they are in). And the (I’m assuming an older friend/mentor?) keeps pushing her back to reality saying, “This is all we’ve got-just do it.” And “This is all we’re really good for, even when if it hurts when they leave us.” And the lineup of girls waiting to be taken, seducing men, then getting left for nothing again. It got me right there, man. It’s a flipping 360’ on how she feels from Track 10: Bring on the Men. Amazing job, love! And trust me darling, we all get those nasty writers block. It’s ok that you were late. ^~^

I find this segment interesting as it is enchanting, as "girls of the night" sounds like an exact equivalent to "creatures of the night" and it matches these characters flawlessly. Beautifully done

I fell like I relate so much to this song about relationships about how nothing ever changes for them and even their own dreams and wishes. I help out a lot of people in all honesty I think they take me for granted. All I ever do is give and give and give to people and I never get anything back. Not that I want to get stuff back but it just hurts when you feel used and your friends don't care. Irreguardless I love this animatic great job ^^

When my drama group did it we had definite groups and classes entering the stage at different points it creates a more city-like look

it's 2 am, i JUST got back from babysitting about a half hour ago, and i remembered your jekyll and hyde animatics out of nowhere driving home and got super excited. i just had to watch them all again, and when i realized that you posted a NEW one (granted a few weeks ago) i got even more excited. yet another beautiful animatic 💖💖

I absolutely love this and all of your Jekyll and Hyde animatics! I'm obsessed with this musical and soundtrack beyond measure, but the soundtrack is my favorite. In every animatic you did so far, you did so perfectly. I CAN NOT WAIT to see more from this, and I hope someday you would have done every song from the soundtrack!!!

I know they got rid but of bring on the men because they didn’t want lucy to enjoy being a prostitute but 1.it is arguably better than good and evil 2.it adds depth into the story. This song proves she doesn’t want to do this and in conjunction with bring on the men it shows she has to pretend she does like it. This is something a lot of people had to do in that industry too if they wanted to get customers and get paid. Overall I’m just really sad they got rid of it when the explanation was right there and they didn’t have to shove it in the face of the audience how much she dislikes it.

I’m not crying You are

At least the prostitution in the play happens for a reason,. More often than not, prostitutes are portrayed in a bad light. They are made to be the ones to blame for all levels of the world. What the musical does is to portray them as the human beings that they really are. The fault is with society and not with the women themselves. That is one good thing you get from the musical in my opinion.

Well said, some (whether they are male or female) are forced into prostitution at very young ages and not by their own choice like the line 'We don't have a choice' Some woman do it to provide for their kids and keep their homes hence Nellie's line 'I have a child and children must be fed'.
