I think he was 17 but the timeline back then is pretty messy. At first glance I thought he was almost as bad as his father, like how he tried to strip his half sisters of their power and get them killed and out of the line for throne but then I remembered he was just a kid. A boy king raised by servants and his father and the occasional stepmother. I read that he and his sisters would get into fights in the middle of court that left them all crying and screaming at eachother. History proves how broken this family was and it's so sad.

Even sadder is that this only fuelled Henry's anger to his future wives. Finally he had a son after so many miscarriages, still births and his daughters - but Edward wasn't even able to become Henry's heir. Anne, K Howard and K Parr took the brunt of Henry's anger, he was such an awful person and he took it out on everyone around him. No wonder his kids struggled for stability within themselves. Edit: Edward actually died 6 years after Henry, at the age of 16. Im really sorry for getting mixed up everyone. However, I think my original point still stands as Henry strived for multiple male heirs to secure the tudor dunasty - as Morgan Mash mentioned

Mirkala 86 That’s a great way to start a civil war. Let’s say baby Edward and Jane survive and infant Edward becomes king. Either 1. Edward’s cousins seize the crown most definitely starting a civil war, OR 2. It is said that Jane's ghost still roams the old palace grounds. She means no harm to the living. 1. Compared to your animatic of Don’t Lose Ur Head and All You Wanna Do, where Henry is frequently and prominently featured as somewhat ugly or terrifying, Henry is relatively normal here, maybe even handsome. Maybe because unlike the others who are killed by Henry or managed to get away from him, she is the only wife who saw the good in him, the one who still saw him as the handsome chivalrous prince of Christendom. She never lived long enough to see Henry’s dark side. Which is why she still feels that Henry still loves her, even he had two ex-wives and she knows that he only married her to get a son (which is technically Henry’s fault but that’s another bag of worms) 2. Similar to I Don’t Need Your Love, this is also a song about how the PoV singer never got to spend with the one she loved because of Henry. But unlike Catherine Parr, she never got a second chance (Parr married Thomas Seymour after Henry died). The film reels probably symbolizes how Jane is only watching Edward grow from afar. Imagine how hard must be for her to watch her son be groomed by Henry. It is honestly sweet that the song ends with her uniting with her son in heaven.

It’s about Anne of Cleves, Katherine Howard, and Jane Rochford (Anne Boleyn’s sister-in-law). Another is a video from Oversimplified, a history KZread channel. It’s pretty funny but very informative. The third is from The Royal Diaries series: Elizabeth I. It was a series I read as a kid. They feature a lot of real-life princesses. Everything else is either from the musical, tumblr, or Google

Alright, so,it's basically agreed upon that Henry looks different cause Jane is the only queen that never saw his bad side, either because she died too soon or she did have his son (or both). Jane is an interesting character, cause she knows she's the only one giving him unconditional love, but Henry's "love" is only determined on who gives him a son. Here's where the rolls of film come in. What Jane wants is a happy ending where she and Henry are happily married with s bajillion kids. Almost like a movie. She wanted her life to be a movie.

Both Jane and Henry really lived a fantasy. A romance that will forever be in pink tinted lenses. Jane didn't live enough to experience Henry's dark side herself (she wasn't dumb, she knew she could be doomed to divorce or decapitation) and so could see the good in him. Henry wasn't with her long enough to get bored of her. And she was the one that actually gave him a son,Edward, who would die at young age. Truly sad how Jane expected Edward to have a long happy life. And even that couldn't happen. *The one he truly loved* cause a tragic fate didn't allowed that love to fade away.

She was smart enough though to approach him later and smooth things over, appeal to his ego and convince him that her questioning him was just an exercise so she could learn from him. The execution orders were literally delivered as she was talking to him, but since she was cunning enough to turn him he basically told the guys who brought the orders in to go away. The portrayal of Henry: basically, Jane is the only one of Henry's wives to never have experienced him falling out of love with her. While she did experience cruelty from him, and she knew he was not a good person, she always tried to see the good that was in him, despite everything. She truly loved him, even after all he'd done. 2. The crushing of the leaf. This one is a little harder, but I think it could either symbolize Jane's memories of Henry, or the disillusion felt by the queens shown while the fragments float across the screen (Aragon and Boleyn) when they were turned away/killed by Henry. 3. The diamond shaped petals/leaves: not sure what they mean, but maybe they have to do with family? Not sure. Might also just be a nice transition. 4. The shattered image of Jane: likely ties into the stone thing. Perhaps it symbolizes how Jane's "heart of stone" would've shattered if Henry had thrown her away like this other wives. 5.The vanishing of Henry's hand: probably a sort of foreshadowing of Jane's death taking her from Henry and vice-versa 6. The 5 different environments: gonna split this one up into parts. They all seem to portray Henry's different moods/attitudes towards his wives, or at least Jane. They also connect to seasons. 6a. The sunshine: The times when Henry showed love and compassion. The happiness Jane felt with him when he was kind and loving to her. Summer. 6b. The rain: The times when Henry made Jane sad. Possibly also the grief they both felt when Jane died. Overall just the sadness and melancholy than Henry shared with his wives sometimes. Spring 6c. The dying trees (it's the falling leaves and the empty branches): When Henry was distant and prickly towards his wives. Not necessarily his temper, but just him being generally mean to them. Autumn 6d. The snow: The coldness and even cruelty that Henry showed his wives. When he would be isolated from Jane despite her trying to love him, because he didn't truly love her back. Winter. This is the one Jane spends longest in (for the first half), showing how she was strong enough to withstand Henry's coldness. 7. The constant use of light and shadow: simultaneously both the light of joy Jane felt, and the looming darkness and grief of her death. You can see that when she talks about her life with Henry, everything is light and a soft blue color, but when she talks about death, and from the perspective of her being dead, it's black or dark blue. This also happens in places where she talks about knowing Henry could leave her at any second, knowing he may not love her as she loves him. 8. Jane and Henry's image fading away: basically symbolizing the lyrics of Henry's love vanishing. 9. The coffin images are her death and also maybe Christianity? I know religion was important to royals at the time. 10. The burning building: Henry's temper and his destruction. Jane standing among the fire and ash and being untouched is similar to how she stands in the snowstorm but remains unharmed. Even though Henry could be extremely angry and mean, Jane loved him regardless and stayed steadfast. He couldn't hurt her because she never let him get to her. 11. The falling flower: related to her death and probably the funeral resulting afterwards. Not sure exactly what the glowing lights are for. Maybe the souls of others who had died? We don't see anyone in particular but she is depicted in some sort of afterlife or Limbo (the park thing she's at, with the fountain). 12. The upturning of her hand to the reels/the reels of film: her both re-watching her own life, and watching the life of her son as it plays out without her. 13. Her meeting Edward in the afterlife: what I just said. This moment made me teary-eyed, btw. Overall excellent use of symbols and colors. The amount of hard work and detail put into this video is unfathomable. Wonderful job.

This comment is absolutely spectacular 👌. Love how you analyzed the symbolism in this animatic I like it when people catch on to what the artists are implying or relaying into their work 😊. Oh, by the way, it would actually be Protestantism not Christianiy. Yes, normally back in those centuries Christianity was highly valued and prioritized, but Henry switched the kingdom's religion to Protestantism because the church wouldn't allow him to divorce his first wife Catherine of Aragon in order to marry Anne Boleyn.

In real life, she's the only queen to be buried with Henry. There were historians and historical fiction writers who expounded on this and believed that Jane was the most beloved. In reality, it's because she died as Henry's consort and gave birth to a legitimate heir. In my fiction, it appears that Jane was the kindest to Henry. And when I read the historical rumors of Jane, she was building a bridge with Henry's estranged daughters with their father. She wasn't the smartest or prettiest. There are records describing her as a homely woman which informs me that Henry valued her kindness. In reality, it may not have been the case. There really wasn't much of a record about her. She's the easiest to fictionalize because of her limited appearance in records, so her character was expounded upon with the limited records we have of her.

I’m not gonna lie that K. Howard had the saddest story of them all but Jane I believe is a close second. Her story is beautifully tragic in a way. She never really lived long enough to see Henry’s dark side (but she wasn’t blind or dumb, she knew the dangers and the risks of being Henry’s wife) yet she stuck around loving him unconditionally. Now did he love her back? Well she was the only one who gave him a son and she died before he could get bored with her so in a very disturbing sort of way, yes he did. Yes she gave him a son at the cost of her own life and said son never grew up the way she wanted him to (died young) it’s like everything that could have gone wrong did go wrong. And in the final number we see an alternate timeline where Jane came back to Henry where they finally are happily married with the family she always wanted. Personally I do not want her back with him but that was her happy ending in her mind and what she wanted so that’s all we could ever ask for.

Actually, some people interpret her line in “Six” as her accepting the other queens as her family. Her pun is obviously a reference to the band The Rolling Stones (Fun fact: they have a song also called “Heart of Stone). From what little I know about them, they were essentially a group of friends who decided to form a band together. That’s the interpretation I like to go with.

Totally a-historical alternate ending: Jane survives childbirth and remains faithful to Henry VIII, but Henry, true to form, loses interest and hatches some elaborate plot to kill her and make it look like an accident so he can marry some other hot chick. However, Mary (Henry's semi-estranged daughter with Cath. of Aragon) discovers and exposes this scheme, somehow through some plot device leading to both her own and Henry's deaths. Saddened by learning of her ex-husband's true irredeemable nature, Jane nonetheless resolves to carry on, becomes regent for her young Edward, and rules with kindness and compassion, fast-tracking England towards constitutional monarchy with religious freedom and anachronistic women's rights. Angels sing and unicorns poop rainbows. Oh yes. A few centuries later, when Britain's North American colonies demand independence, Queen Jane III negotiates a peaceful compromise where the colonies gain parliamentary representation along with the rest of the Empire's holdings, avoiding war entirely. Alexander Hamilton is elected to represent New York in the newly established House of Colonies, but after his ingenious financial plans completely wipe out all of England's outstanding debts, he rises to serve as the queen's prime minister, where he facilitates the gradual end of slavery in the empire.

Jane was very sympathetic over Mary! Henry’s first wife Queen Catherine’s daughter. She hated how Anne humiliated the child and made Henry denounce her right as an heir. So she fought for Mary to have her status brought back. But Henry wasn’t having it and was pissed that she brought that up. So Henry brought Mary’s friends in and questioned them and soon after brought Mary. Mary was then threatened that if she didn’t step down he was going to kill her friends and family and even Jane! So Mary said that she is no longer a princess, that she is in fact a bastard child. So Henry spares them cause she with drew.

I was never the biggest the fan of this song, but after watching how the actress on broadway portrays the song and the build up beforehand as well as Seymour throughout the show, it reminds me a lot of the conflicting feels of being in an abusive relationship. You can truly love your abuser, and it isn’t your fault that they’re the way they are. Seymour just feels so broken underneath the surface in the show. She needs that good therapy to open the doors she’s closed in her heart in order to love the trashfire that is Henry.

But I remember doing a search, and I think that Jane Seymour might've been related to Anne Boleyn and Catherine Howard because they shared a great-grandmother. Also she is apparently the 5th cousin of Henry. Edit: But I do feel bad for her because Henry divorced and beheaded his two first wives, and then his illegitimate son died. So there was really a lot of pressure on her when it came to her pregnancy; when it came to the sex of the baby.

They got mad at him even though he had no control of the will. Then they stopped taking to him. He had no one to turn to and had no control over everything that caused it. He died alone. Technically, he died when he was 15. Still, I agree with what you said. I feel like this animatic gives Jane the happy ending she deserves while still acknowledging the tragic reality of the situation.

In this song, Jane Seymour talks about how she loved Henry, but mainly about her son. All the Queens suffered loses with children. They all had miscarriages. But its sad how Jane wishes if only she could see her son grow up- the one henry was most proud of. Jane never knew her son would be throned and die at such an early age. And its sad that she probably thought about what her son would become. Just imagkne if jane seymour lived or her son on both. England would be so different today. But i think England needed a Queen. So who knows what could of happened if edward lived. Also sorta unrelated but can we stop calling mary bloody mary cos her dad(henry) killed so many more. If we take the amount of time Mary ruled for(around 5 years) and take that amount of time from how long henry ruled. I think hes the real bloody mary.

They say her spirit haunts the palace apartments where she died. Her spirit feels guilty for having played an indirect part in Anne's execution. Anne's ghost is said to be in the Tower of London. I doubt any closure is possible for that tortured soul, but if only there was a way to bring the two together, and have them exchange posthumous forgiveness, then at least Jane could pass on and rejoin her son in the next world, her unfinished business on our side resolved.

Or is there?? :O Anyways amazing work once again! So where was I? Oh yeah- VELCOME TO ZE HAUS, TO ZE HAUS OF HOLBEIN! JA-

"A restless TIDE untamable" "I knew a STORM could come too" "Any BLAZE you blew my way" and then, her heart of STONE.
