Nate L - I believe you have your opinion but JL is still learning the ropes, failed in Europe and years later finally wins AMA Supercross which by the way is not Motocross and Messr JH has won more GP's and 5 World Championships which NO American has done yet, so keep dreaming my man but Facts are written Factoids.

RC on a recent 2/4 podcast said that guys today are going faster than they did in his time. RV said speed was similar to his time but bikes are now even easier to ride. Fun to bench race but hard to compare. Herlings Vs ET Vs RC Vs RV Vs JS7 Vs Everts - we can but dream..

JH is the Motocross GOAT bar all other riders including the egotistical Americans. GP's and 5 World Championships, name an American who has met this factoid, NONE.

First of all he only has 2 MXGP championships and 70% of those wins were in MX2 so it's a completely invalid comparison. It's pretty hard to call him the GOAT when Everts and Cairoli have way more wins and championships in MX1/GP than Herlings. He also has roughly the same number of MXGP wins as Gajser and 2 championships to Gajser's 4 in the same era. If you want to compare American riders Ricky Carmichael had 7 - 450 MX championships and 5 Supercross titles with 150 career wins. This was done in a 10 year career, less than Herlings currently. This puts him drastically ahead of Herlings statistically. I'm a Herlings fan but he's got a long way to go before entering the GOAT conversation. He might one day but not yet.

@@cliftonpfleger9525 By "world" you mean Europe right? There are basically no riders in the "world championship" from North America, South America, Asia, Africa or Australia? The US series ends up pulling in riders from all over the world and they are usually the top prospects from Europe and other countries, Marvin Musquin, Ken Roczen, Christophe Pourcel, Tom Vialle to name a few fairly recent names. These guys were all MX2 champions that race in the US currently. If you think the FIM world championship competition is so much better have a look at 2 time MX2 champ Tom Vialle's results in the US. I think there are great European riders in MXGP also but to claim that because you call something "world championship" that it's the most important is ridiculous.
