First Time Racing Unadilla! Highs To The Lows... Gutted

Ойын-сауық

With the 2023 Pro Motocross season picking back up after a few weekends off, we headed up to New York to race the iconic track- Unadilla! This track favored the guys who let it all hang out wide open and was definitely one of the gnarliest tracks on the circuit! Overall, we made it back home safely afterward to live to race another day- until next time! 👊🏼

What impressed me the most was that first Moto. You could see Haiden was still figuring out the track and about halfway through, he figured it out and started kicking ass and making up time. Tough weekend but I’m sure he is going to come out swinging at Budd’s.

I'm 47, and I've loved motorcycles as a whole. I always followed SX and MX since I was a kid. I raced amateur on tracks in Michigan through the 90's, and I'm no expert, but Hayden consistently and unfailingly impresses me to almost no end. He always looks so truly thankful to be where he is and does a great job of shaking off his bad days. The speed, control, and resolve he has shown should make this season a very strong foundation to build from. I am very certain he won't let the setbacks he faced cloud what an amazing season he had. I always loved watching guys like Guy Cooper, Damon Bradshaw, Jeff Matasavitch (I still have my VFX-2 Chicken replica), and even Haydens dad. Racing is their job, based in an industry, but those guys had a lot of grit and always looked to me as if they just really enjoyed the ride. Being there....In that point in time, and I thought it showed in their riding....especially on their best days. I'm not slighting anyone else on the track. All of todays racers are among the most elite athletes in the world, and Haydens involvement this year has really made things interesting. Hayden has had the benefit of tackling this season as a learning experience, I hope he is able to maintain that strong positive attitude. The love of the ride. He's the genuine article. I feel he just needs to be patient enough to allow his experience and knowledge of the tracks and other riders to catch up to his skills and talent.

Dude for this to be the very first race you haven’t finished in your rookie year, that’s nuts! I was crazy bummed to see that happen. Go win the next two races and you still might get the championship. You have the skill to do so, all it takes is manifesting that achievement in your attitude/riding. Very difficult but still possible. You’ve proven how resilient you are. Either way buddy, what youve done this year is nothing short of incredible. Remember to be nice to yourself. Being competitive as you are can make it easy to beat ourselves up. Take the good with the bad. Let it process and move on. You’re a shark bro! You’ll smell the blood in the water before the season is out. Then you’ll move onto next year and be on top. Good luck!

Was gutted when his bike went in moto 1, but shows he was pushing the bike to its limit and giving it everything he had. I think he would’ve got hunter, maybe even Levi those last 2 laps, but that’s racing. It was awesome to see him figure out the track when he was following hunter, you can tell he was learning where hunter was faster so he would switch it up next lap, change up his lines, and once he started doing that he was definitely faster then him. Go get ‘em at buds.

That’s the thing about racing there will always be ups and downs and Haiden shouldn’t look down at himself he has had a very impressive rookie year

Hay it’s all good you can’t help or predict if or when the motor will let go. Thank the Lord it happened in a turn and not on a jump. The Lord Blessed you with another survival weekend and you salvage something out of it. Now thank the Lord and say prayer and go get them next week. You got this brother. God Bless to you and the family. Carl from Florida peace.

I was so bummed when during the race they announced that Haiden was out of the first moto due to a mechanical failure. Haiden looked so gutted! He works his butt off and truly deserves every bit of success he gets. So many people are quick to say he is so good bcuz the Deegan family has a lot of $. Yes they have a lot of $ but Haiden's hard work/work ethic and Brian/Marissa being extremely supportive parents is why he is so great.
