@@snsnshhhs663 Jeff Lynne decided to end ELO in 1986. Kelly decided to Tour illegally with Jeff Lynne's songs under the name ELO 2. I would have been upset as much as Jeff was. As much as we have loved Kelly, he didn't have any creative input but he had a really great voice. Like it or not he was like a session musician and singer. Period!

Should have had Sir Paulie come on stage and "Whistle" the lead!! And you might ask, "Can you do any better"? Ans; I DID do better as a Beatle Tribber for many years, and yet if I was asked to play this lead, I would STILL have practiced it for at least a WEEK!!!!

i WROTE jOHNNY RIVERS WHO HAS 60 YEARS , Maybe not of being Mr popular because he was one of the first to buy his own label- sun records, in Memphis, and scored almost immediately with 5th dimension. I told him to write a letter saying, I don't want to be presumptive, but if a vote were to come up , I want to be clear that I would not accept it because all my fans seem to be so upset, that I am taking it off the voting board- in perpetuity. ....then they may have to make an annoucement as they keep getting bothered and that is the way to win by saying no. If I was a beginning partner in the whisky a go go, packed the house for 6 solid months, just as the plaque reads, and if Bob Dylans writes in his life's story that I did the finest cover of his works, calling me brother. btw all those who may be snickering this guy may have 500 covers and 150 originals , most backed by the wrecking crew- please give his "realization" c 1968 lp a fair listen. oh well. where hi is going he knows that he won't have a plaque next to cee-lo and others with fine examples for our youth.

That’s an interesting perspective. Joe played George’s solo note for note, the vocals were similarly done. I doubt few would consider the Beatles surpassable on very many of their songs-they approached perfection for what they were striving for. I hear people doing While My Guitar Gently Weeps and the guitarist adds lots of fast scales/arpeggiated notes and totally misses the artistry of Clapton’s weeping guitar. I prefer the originals.

No other band has created such a glorious merger of rock melodies and symphonic orchestration, generating undeniable pop hits within cohesive, meticulously constructed album-length programs. Led by vocalist, guitarist, composer and producer Jeff Lynne, the Electric Light Orchestra has been fueled by a commitment to pop songcraft and a visionary use of recording-studio wizardry. Transcendent tracks like "Can't Get It Out of My Head," "Evil Woman," "Telephone Line" and "Don't Bring Me Down" remain fixtures on playlists around the globe.

Jeff Lynne really delivers; this is a tremendous reading of one of The Beatles greatest songs written by George Harrison. Lynne had a great friendship with Harrison which led to The Traveling Wilburies, rocks closest incarnation of The Highwaymen.
