Had the opportunity to see Jeff play twice... in Toronto: Jeff Healey, Jeff Beck, Stevie Ray & Double Trouble. Mind blown all night. Happend to be in Stoufville Ontario at a small bar and was able to catch Jack De Keyzer. At the end of intermission ther was a commotion - Jeff Healey came in to do a set... I can't explain the awe - and I've been a gigging musician since the late 70's. infuential beyond words.

Yeah because while most guitarists are just using their 4 fingers with the thumb on the back of the neck, Jeff Healey was using this thumb to fret strings as well. If you think about it, a lot of guitar players won't even use their pinky that much so it's like 3 vs. 5 and Jeff's gonna win every time. Not to mention that crazy-strong vibrato.

He asked me to take him shopping for shoes...I chose out the pair he's wearing...blue swede! He was happy with the fit, but the brass guards on the tips of the toes were only decorative...he walked faster than the average person, though blind...was very hard on shoes. I was very low-income, thought we'd pulled out all the stops buying a $100 pair of shoes...didn't know he was better off than that, would've gone for the $180 pair, lol. But they looked great...eh! Lay offa them shoes! I got to go around with him a bit because I'd been very clever & had my number typed onto a card in braille at the CNIB then gave him my number. He was very appreciative of the extra effort. We all miss him something aweful. He married "the right girl" though & saw happiness in his life, thankfully. ...sigh....

Brings more than a tear to my eye listening and watching what I think was one of the 3 greatest white blues players gone long before their time; Jeff, Gary, and Stevie. Unlike the other 2, I had the great pleasure of seeing Jeff live. To this day I've never seen anyone who could impress me more than what Jeff did that night. Jeff was in no hurry to check out, he loved his family, his guitar and his jazz 78's, what a collection he had... The man had cancer from an infant and although held at bay for the most part during his life he was constantly monitored at the cancer centers. When his cancer hit his lungs he went out of his way to make everybody feel better about it saying, Hey I had a good forty year run, there was bound to be a bump in the road sometime..Always positive thoughts and words from that man....This world was a better place with him in it with out doubt, he was an inspiration to so many....

Great comment but it has nothing to do with being white.??? Being white has nothing to do with being a good blues player.??? Do you think only black people can play the blues? That's like saying only black people can play funk or jazz??? Hello?

Here to make an argument for the most underrated, least noticed, but most likely the best guitar player who ever lived,Jeff Healey.

This statement is often over used but Jeff Healey was often over looked. I have seen all of the top guitarist with the exception of Hendrix and Jeff was as good as any of them. Just great music. Sadly missed.

I had the pleasure of seeing him live twice. 1988 and when he opened up for BB King.

So great. I wish that I had heard him play live - every time he came through my town I was either playing or out on the road.

I saw Jeff at the Bean Blossom Boogie in Indiana in about 96.It was a once a year Harley party sponcered by ABATE of Indiana. He was amazing and man that guy rocked.A group of people that were deaf and blind followed him around.RIP Jeff.....you are dearly missed.

Really a guitar genius, and he played with a ton of emotion. Kind of a forgotten guitar hero.
