Nobody has, or ever will play like the legendary Jeff Healy
One of the very few guitarists who was actually able to totally wow Stevie Ray. if Stevie Ray Vaughan looks at you playing your guitar and says wow! you know you got something special.

If you can impress SRV.....then son, you've some very serious talent. Gary Moore, Eric Clapton, Melvin Taylor, SRV don't get impressed easily.

first time I saw this Cat fkn blown away. saw him 7 more times. RIP Confidence Man
Had the opportunity to see Jeff play twice... in Toronto: Jeff Healey, Jeff Beck, Stevie Ray & Double Trouble. Mind blown all night. Happend to be in Stoufville Ontario at a small bar and was able to catch Jack De Keyzer. At the end of intermission ther was a commotion - Jeff Healey came in to do a set... I can't explain the awe - and I've been a gigging musician since the late 70's. infuential beyond words.
There's music and then there's Jeff Healey!! 😎🎸🔊🔊🔊🔊
He made roadhouse just that much more authentic R.I.P❤
It's insane how good Healey was. Man, what a talent, and a real loss. RIP, Jeff!

I get a warm fuzzy feeling inside when i see Jeff perform. Then i shed a little tear. RIP Jeff! I really hope you're in heaven so you can give me some lessons and we can hang out and jam!
When Jeff was on The Tonight Show, Johnny Carson make a big point of Jeff’s blindness in his introduction but Dave never mentioned it once. It’s as if Dave understood that Jeff was an extraordinary musician and would still be even if he could see.

Blew the roof off that dump! I saw this when it was broadcast. I was floored. I remember calling all my guitar friends immediately (of course they were still up) and told them all about it. They didn't believe me till they saw it themselves.
I've played guitar 40 yrs, and considered to be very good, but Jeff, was clearly in a totally different league than the rest of us. Jeff was spectacular, and thats an understatement. No one will ever be as good as him . Rest in Peace Brother. You will always be the best .

It rarely happened. Especially with an unknown like Jeff was at the time.
I attended his club in Toronto - HEALEY'S - He was also a good performer . He had great blues guests and a good house band . Lots of talent went through that place.
Healey was a "Master" at bringing out the Fender Strat single coil sound!
Jeff's unconventional playing style made it so he could cover more frets at once than any other guitarist. He had riffs up his sleeve that no other guitar player could copy. RIP Jeff

Yeah because while most guitarists are just using their 4 fingers with the thumb on the back of the neck, Jeff Healey was using this thumb to fret strings as well. If you think about it, a lot of guitar players won't even use their pinky that much so it's like 3 vs. 5 and Jeff's gonna win every time. Not to mention that crazy-strong vibrato.
So glad that I had the pleasure of seeing him live on many occasions in his town of Toronto, Canada... one of the true legendary greats.

This morning digging Jeff Healey!
super hot pickups, kind of remind me of my Rio Grande hots, always LOVED his playing and ability to feel it out with the band and audience. Much missed!
Jeff @ a young age lost his eyesight, but his fingers can fly on that guitar and make it sing. You will be greatly missed by all your friends Jeff. RIP
Always appreciated Jeff's humour and his laid back demeanor in interviews. He was so good that he wowed the band on his 1st visit to the point of being invited to sit in during the whole show! I've never seen that. Some guitarists make my eyebrows go up to the ceiling but Jeff propels them into the stratosphere.

I remember watching this as it first aired. I was a second shift factory worker, but got off work early because it was Friday. Otherwise I might have missed it. Along with Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jeff was a huge inspiration to me and definitely shaped how I play guitar.
The guy got me into blues-rock. I'll never forget my first time hearing Jeff, nor the moment when I heard he had passed.
Got to play with him in Memphis. Great man kind and generous. Funny as hell. Tone of a beast. Vocals OMG unbelievable.

There are many great guitar players throughout history. Only a few can be called legendary. Jeff made hitting that mark look easy. Great tone, groove and dynamics. Damn I miss Jeff and the other legends. I hope to get to heaven. They must have AWESOME jam sessions.
So blessed to have met him in 1988!
Jeff Healey is a Personal Favorite.. number 1 in my book.. Music from the Soul.. makes my heart & body want to move.. Thanks Jeff 🎶 ❤
What an amazing soul Jeff was. The world is worse off without a man like him. I mean 1 hell of a rolemodel. The world has changed for the worse so much since then. He died at 41. Im 42 and l just cant imagine. We all were cheated when he passed. What a great Man Jeff Healy was. He is in Rock n Roll Heaven now. Ya know they got a hell of a band!!!!
Absolutely mesmerizing. Not possible to listen to this without grinning. Thanks Jeff, for the goosebumps.
Thanks for posting. I remember watching this on an old tv, with a mono speaker and greening image.
He asked me to take him shopping for shoes...I chose out the pair he's wearing...blue swede! He was happy with the fit, but the brass guards on the tips of the toes were only decorative...he walked faster than the average person, though blind...was very hard on shoes. I was very low-income, thought we'd pulled out all the stops buying a $100 pair of shoes...didn't know he was better off than that, would've gone for the $180 pair, lol. But they looked great...eh! Lay offa them shoes! I got to go around with him a bit because I'd been very clever & had my number typed onto a card in braille at the CNIB then gave him my number. He was very appreciative of the extra effort. We all miss him something aweful. He married "the right girl" though & saw happiness in his life, thankfully. ...sigh....

I hope Jeff knew how much is was respected by every Guitarist who ever heard him, still being discovered today, these Videos are great, back in the day, we didn't have KZread, just heard this guy on the Radio and thought WTAF, then trying to find his album in the UK, incredible talent.
If you can make SRV say "wow" when you're playing the guitar, then you just got one of the biggest approvals you can get. That's how you know the man can play. Not very many can bend the strings quite like you can. Anyone else notice that smile? Eternal. Rest peacefully up there Jeff. Music isn't the same down here without ya 🕊🙏🏼
Before my time! Cool video Right On!!!
Some people say he's in a better place. I say this place is better because he was in it. Brings more than a tear to my eye listening and watching what I think was one of the 3 greatest white blues players gone long before their time; Jeff, Gary, and Stevie. Unlike the other 2, I had the great pleasure of seeing Jeff live. To this day I've never seen anyone who could impress me more than what Jeff did that night. Long may you run and I know heaven is the best venue for blues music there ever was.

Jeff was in no hurry to check out, he loved his family, his guitar and his jazz 78's, what a collection he had... The man had cancer from an infant and although held at bay for the most part during his life he was constantly monitored at the cancer centers. When his cancer hit his lungs he went out of his way to make everybody feel better about it saying, Hey I had a good forty year run, there was bound to be a bump in the road sometime..Always positive thoughts and words from that man....This world was a better place with him in it with out doubt, he was an inspiration to so many....

Great comment but it has nothing to do with being white.??? Being white has nothing to do with being a good blues player.??? Do you think only black people can play the blues? That's like saying only black people can play funk or jazz??? Hello?
Here to make an argument for the most underrated, least noticed, but most likely the best guitar player who ever lived,Jeff Healey.
This statement is often over used but Jeff Healey was often over looked. I have seen all of the top guitarist with the exception of Hendrix and Jeff was as good as any of them. Just great music. Sadly missed.
