Jeff Buckley - So Real (Acoustic) 1995
Музыка
This was recorded in Chicago in 1995. Jeff Buckley was one of my all time favorite, and still is. His untimely death sent showckwaves around the world to all of his fans. His music touched so many people. Hope you enjoy watching this as much as I enjoyed posting......

who the hell even writes a chord progression like that, love it

I'm fairly sure it was his lead guitarist. Apparently, he was given that piece of music, walked around the block a few times and came back with the lyrics in his head.

@@darkcnotion absolutely, he was an amazing musician. He did not write the music to Grace, Mojo Pin or So Real. Perhaps more but those, I know for sure. This does not take from his musical ability. If anything it adds to it. Amazing musicians trusted him with their own creations.

Yes. I always felt that good song has to be a roller-coaster-ride of chords and vocalization. I only recently heard this song and it got under my skin. I hear it my head all the time. That's when I know I like a song.
Doesn’t anyone else think that his voice is insanely out of this world??

I agree with you; however, if you showed this to someone completely out of context I think they’d have a tough time placing it in time. He made an effort to create that image with the jacket he’s wearing on the album cover of Grace Just looked it up: G2 - C6

Just like Alice in Chains’ mtv performance-you could fool anyone into thinking this were today actually. So ahead of their time, “musicians or worse” today can only hope to play in their shadows. People now are copying even the way they look, still and copying the bands that copied them (Radiohead, even deftones). The lead singer of dc fontaines dyed his hair like LS/Alice in Chains’ mtv performance era and has posture like Liam from Oasis.

I wouldn't say Radiohead didn't copy him, but they were instead inspired.

God damn it. Look at the way he controls the mic. He moves in and away from it like human fader. This guy was a complete pro. Person working the board probably had nothing to do.
Jeff's has a gorgeous voice, extremely versatile and expressive, loads of power and tone too.
The human voice is an instrument.Jeff Buckleys was an ORCHESTRA!
he sticks a knife in my heart starting about 2:20, twists it around for the next 20 seconds or so, goes in for the kill at the end. damn, what a voice he had. it speaks to my soul.
I had to take a deep breath and stare at my ceiling for at least 3 minutes after the end of this masterpiece.
Just received Grace on vinyl for my birthday today. The album is breathtaking enough through a phone, let alone on a record player.

This voice was so real.
This is such a great song on a love affair. And that line is so prohpetic: "And I couldn't awake from the nightmare, that sucked me in and pulled me under Pulled me under" given the nature of the event of his tragic untimely death. I'm still so sad about it.
Look how young they all are ( we all were ) it's such a shame Jeff never got to grow older like we have.

LYRICS?? Love, let me sleep tonight on your couch And remember the smell of the fabric Of your simple city dress Oh, that was so real Oh, that was so real Oh, that was so real We walked around 'til the moon got full like a plate. And the wind blew an invocation and I fell asleep at the gate And I never stepped on the cracks 'cause I thought I'd hurt my mother And I couldn't awake from the nightmare, that sucked me in and pulled me under Pulled me under Oh, that was so real Oh, that was so real Oh, that was so real I love you But I'm afraid to love you I love you But I'm afraid to love you I'm afraid Oh, that was so real Oh, that was so real Oh, that was so real Oh, that was so real Oh, that was so real Oh, that was so real Real, real, real Oh, that was so real Oh, that was so real Oh, that was so real
I love you... But I am afraid to love you. I'm afraid! 😔

Check out Live at Sin e . From what I understand it’s the coffee shop in New York City he frequently played while he signed his contract with Sony Music. He asked for a live album to be recorded there, they agreed. I remember buying it in 2004, though possibly released before then, it’s a masterpiece! This set was part of a dvd called Live in Chicago , So Real and Last Goodbye were studio recordings included with the dvd.
