    I'd never heard of this guy when I wandered into Sine one night. This was exactly what he was like. It was a tiny room, no booze, just coffee, tea, and pastries. It was more like somebody's living room. It was just him, his Telecaster, a mic, and a small amp. His voice went to unbelievable places. Then, between songs, when he talked, he was conversational and friendly. He was the only act. His guitar playing was surprisingly good and very full and he got this incredibly warm tone. And the place was packed with absolutely the most beautiful girls in the city all focused on him and very quiet. The scene was a poem. I wondered why nobody had told me about this.

    You think that is something, I saw Nirvana at the Pyramid club 1989, saw them fighting with their guitarist Jason. That was the same night they became THE 3 piece Nirvana and insanely enough, Iggy Pop was there.

    My mother passed away from cancer in 2020, for some unknown reason, I gravitated towards his music at a time when my grief was beyond imaginable . Got me through a very dark period of my life and here it is 2024 and I’m still alive. I wish he were still alive. I still grieve for my mother, but I’m so thankful that I’ve discovered Jeff Buckley

    I just discovered Jeff Buckley's music recently. Back in the 90's I would see his Grace cd at the store and was slightly intrigued but wasn't quite sure what to make of it. Now 25 years later I'm absolutely floored by how raw and talented he was. And this wonderful performance gives me a glimpse into how special and cool those nights at Sin-e must've been.

    The first song's name is "The Way Young Lovers are." Its pretty cool seeing Jeff in this small setting with just his guitar, amp, and voice. I actually prefer this side of Jeff the most. Btw at 1:27 is a nice full A#5 which is the highest note Buckley was ever recorded belting in a full mixed voice.

  • @soysaucehairdye7869

    @soysaucehairdye7869

    pedro gallardo It is full voice. Jeff Buckley was a leggiero tenor that could hit extremely high notes with ease with the A#5 being the highest full note I am aware of him hitting more than a few times in live performances. He really only used falsetto to hit 6th octave notes like the D#6 he hits in "Gunshot Glitter." Most of his light fifth octave notes are mixed voice notes.

    @@truefunksoul8638 I’m aware of that, but Sony has the rest of whatever else Merri Cyr filmed that night. For example, additional footage of this performance of The Way Young Lovers Do was featured in a Jeff Buckley documentary (Fall in Light, I believe), which begs the question: Why did Sony merely include a snippet of said song on the aforementioned DVD when, presumably, the whole song, and concert, was filmed?
