When I compare artists. I never mention Jeff Buckley. Simply because I keep his music in it's own realm away from the rest of the musicians. He made music for the very soul.

One of the most important musicians in my life that meant everything to me and still hits deep whenever i listen to his work as he is just one of those songwriters that grabs you by the soul. Especially this masterpiece.

Awesome. I dreamt last night that Jeff was alive, and that I got to see him perform live (one of my regrets that I never actually got a chance to do). I didn't want to wake up. But when I did, this song was in my head.

I discovered Jeff only 8 months ago and since then I have been completely bethrothed and devoted to his music like I never have experienced before. This is one of his songs that speaks to my heart and soul. Its so excruciating and unbelievable that he is actually gone and it breaks me every day, and it will riddle me to the end of time. He is the definition of being completely timeless: his poetry, his skills, his voice, his beauty, his everything! My heart and soul and the bane of my inspiration (as he is to many, many others). I am so glad to be apart of this community! We will never, ever forget you Jeff.

He exposes something really special about how things are designed.

As electric, this song was always a top 5 / all-time all-time of mine. Now this version is truly remarkable; such a rainy day & night fireplace masterpiece. Never in the sunlight... I miss Buckley...wow PbS

I am super late to the Buckley party. I just discovered this beautiful human November of last year. His music speaks deeply to me. This song in particular hits the core hard. 💜💜💜

+Murphy NZ Yeah. The live version just suits being live... Kinda how he turns it up a notch when playing Eternal Life. The live version gets me pumped!

Personally i find the Acoustic verison far more meaning full then when he preforms with the band. something about being able to let loose when you're in a room with only one person and a mic opposed to in front of a scearming crowd. Not to say Jeff couldn't do that but this is a strange song.

ALFAJERKBFH how can I get a hold of this version??

Jeff did this song live at a radio station, WXRK, December 17, 1995 but it's listed at 7:28 so not sure if this is it without an intro or talking or something like that. The uploader doesn't answer people who ask where to find this which is pretty lame. He didn't write or perform it after all so share the wealth mate! Come on Leftover :)

I wonder too. This and Moodswing Whiskey are the best tracks outside of Grace. He never properly recorded either and who knows why. Both are windows into the mind of someone dealing with demons and deep regrets. Would have fit perfectly together as part of an album named My Sweetheart The Drunk. Imagine them finished alongside songs like "We Could Be So Happy" and "Demon John". Might have been a great piece of art.

I really feel like this had to be the reason. His mother specifically was at pains to emphasise that everything that did make it to Sketches was unfinished. It boggles the mind to imagine how amazing that album would have been if he'd had the opportunity to develop the songs in the way they were on Grace. Have you heard the early versions of Mojo Pin and Grace? Absolutely different arrangements and performances. Having said that, I think the quality of this live version is up to the Sketches standard, it's such a cool tune. And his guitar playing has always been under-rated, he really had complete control of that motherfucker.

These two songs are so big for me, I really don't really pay much attention to lyrics/stories in a song, but damn these paint such images with such amazing words. and also Moodswing Whiskey with that weird drum rhythm that kicks in. I've learned this song on guitar by ear. There's a lot of bad things that have happened in the world, but he's my Elvis and it's such a loss to never get to hear what he could have made with such a bottomless talent. I've found a lot of the totally fearless rawness in Justin Vernon and Sufjan Stevens, there's tons of virtouosos like Jacob Collier. Closest in my little lifespan is perhaps Thom Yorke that absolutely spews out quality still with The Smile now recently, but no JB.

does anybody know what the frickin chords are?? I can only find the chords to the full band version of this song, but this acoustic version is definitely different and sounds prettier. I'm desperate here

Tuning is Drop D on this version. You may be able to figure it out with Bm7 / Em / Em7 / D / F#m, but if you Google the song and go to images, you'll see manuscripts for it. For the chorus it's F#m to Em (like "Move On Up" by Curtis Mayfield!)

He must have been on some heavy shit when he wrote and played this...

Pretty sure it's an original, I even thought Everybody Here Wants you was a Prince song because I must have read about the "style" and I don't listen to Prince and then I randomly googled and couldn't find the original. JB was amazing with words, chords and composition.
