RIP Jeff. You were probably the most talented electric guitar player to walk this planet. Certainly one of the most innovative and creative, who always thrived to push the limits of the electric guitar. May God welcome you in His Kingdom. You will forever be remembered down here.

I see videos of insanely fast, clean shredders all the time. For 30 seconds I'm impressed, then I'm bored. What I never get tired of is guitar playing that tells a story and gives voice to some emotion. After 49 years of listening to David Gilmour, I still get blown away every time I hear him play.

Yeah, speed ain't nothing without class. I had a guitar teacher 50 years ago who could shred Flight of the Bumblebee (George Bien, he has a video on KZread) but he told me he has to try to be faster than everybody else because nobody could get more sound out of one bent note than David Gilmour.

Can you imagine being there? You're in the Royal Albert Hall, feeling lucky you got a ticket to see legendary guitarist Jeff Beck, and thinking life can't get any better. Then you see a familiar form walk onto the stage from the shadows, carrying a black Strat, and you realize it's legendary guitarist David Gilmour of Pink Floyd. Then you think to yourself, "Lord, just take me now, because life can't possibly get any better".

I went to a concert several years ago and there were several rock mega guitar stars there including Beck. I don’t want to turn this into a bash the rock star comment so I won’t use their names, but Beck blew them all away. His skill level and artistic skills were just so much more developed. He included pinch harmonics and the notes, feedback wise on his amp, to craft his phrases. I mean I still liked hearing several of the rock hits too but Beck took it to the next level. Gilmour was definitely an excellent artistic match with Beck skill wise and talent wise. Btw, Gilmour wasn’t at that concert I mentioned earlier. Hat’s off to these two ❗️

The song Jerusalem is a popular hymn, sung in churches, schools, as the anthem of the Women’s Institute and at sporting events across England and many consider it to be the unofficial English anthem. Sir Hubert Parry wrote the music for Jerusalem. The hymn was originally penned as a poem by William Blake in 1804, but the lyrics were added to Parry’s music in 1916 during the gloom of World War I when the uplifting new English hymn was well received. It is a fitting anthem of democratic vision, aspiration and equality here in America also, in these turbulent times of hate and divisiveness.

We should all be grateful to be able to see to absolute masters doing what they were made for, please stop fighting about who's best and learn from two legends of the art! It would be a boring world if everyone sounded like any one musician of choice. Thank God for all of the amazing musical diversity we can enjoy. Just over ten years ago none of us would be able to experience this amazing gift!

Beck openly admits he took a back seat to Hendrix. Pretty sure Clapton lost his crown to Hendrix as well. But all that aside..its a matter of opinion, period. Forcing it otherwise is just plain stupid

True, and it is known that Gilmour thinks very highly of Beck. But Beck is so bad that he doesn't have to dazzle anyone. He was letting Gilmour lead, comping first, then only answering in the lines, but he still was leading somehow.
