RIP Jeff. You were probably the most talented electric guitar player to walk this planet. Certainly one of the most innovative and creative, who always thrived to push the limits of the electric guitar. May God welcome you in His Kingdom. You will forever be remembered down here.

I see videos of insanely fast, clean shredders all the time. For 30 seconds I'm impressed, then I'm bored. What I never get tired of is guitar playing that tells a story and gives voice to some emotion. After 49 years of listening to David Gilmour, I still get blown away every time I hear him play.

Yeah, speed ain't nothing without class. I had a guitar teacher 50 years ago who could shred Flight of the Bumblebee (George Bien, he has a video on KZread) but he told me he has to try to be faster than everybody else because nobody could get more sound out of one bent note than David Gilmour.

Can you imagine being there? You're in the Royal Albert Hall, feeling lucky you got a ticket to see legendary guitarist Jeff Beck, and thinking life can't get any better. Then you see a familiar form walk onto the stage from the shadows, carrying a black Strat, and you realize it's legendary guitarist David Gilmour of Pink Floyd. Then you think to yourself, "Lord, just take me now, because life can't possibly get any better".

I went to a concert several years ago and there were several rock mega guitar stars there including Beck. I don’t want to turn this into a bash the rock star comment so I won’t use their names, but Beck blew them all away. His skill level and artistic skills were just so much more developed. He included pinch harmonics and the notes, feedback wise on his amp, to craft his phrases. I mean I still liked hearing several of the rock hits too but Beck took it to the next level. Gilmour was definitely an excellent artistic match with Beck skill wise and talent wise. Btw, Gilmour wasn’t at that concert I mentioned earlier. Hat’s off to these two ❗️

You're welcome :) What can i say - these guys really respect each other and Jeff sometimes makes funny things during performance, he has good sense of humour i think :)

Beck was a major influence on Dave. I have seen Floyd and Dave solo many times and just saw Jeff for my 1st at the Paramount here in NY in October. Glad I had the chance, RIP

Do people appreciate how lucky they are to be able to hear REAL ICONS of the electic guitar music, these two British stars are without any doubt the best in the world at what they do, in my opinion Beck is the best there has ever been .The greatest living guitar player in the world, many might disagree that he is the greatest that has lived naming other Americans such as Jimmy Hendrix, I have been fortunate to have heard them all live and believe there is only who stands out at that is the "hands of God" Jeff Arnold Beck.

Good point. West is very similar in style to Gilmour - and did make poor choices. But who hasn’t? It could be said that Beck made poor choices, but he turned vegetarian in his youth and has persevered. West is still a great guitarist despite his troubles and deserves praise for surviving really serious illness
