Beck reassigns the guitar to become some other " thing ". Its not a synth or a guitar. It's something entirely unique. No one else seems to be able to do this; especially with so few effects. Jennifer Batten said the same thing, when I was talking to her. There she was on stage with Beck, with all this technology in her rig, and there's Jeff with Marshall stacks and a whammy bar. It's crazy.

The first Song - 'Eternity's Breath' by John 'also known as Mahavishnu' McLaughlin, the second song is Billy Cobham's 'Stratus'. Crazy cool song covered by many, but none better than Jeff (including Billy)

Creme de la creme of talent in this band! Greatest assembly of musicians as a band not at a fest of course. Vinnie is the greatest living drummer I've seen him side by side with the best and he bests them. Listen, really listen to what he does. Effin percussion section. Tal dragged Stanley Clarke embarrassingly. On stage with Victor Wooten the two just danced around anything just smiling as always!

This is from the "Live at Ronnie Scott's" blue-ray disc......cool stuff indeed. "Eternity's Breath" from Mahavishnu Orchestra's "Visions of the Emerald Beyond", where Narada Michael Walden gave an incredible performance back in 1976. "Stratus" wasn't too bad either, from Billy Cobham's "Spectrum"...............all present and kicking serious ass!!!

Even though I believe Beck would be better served if he was a sideman as opposed to being the frontman, I have to say I wish more rock guitarists today had his playful and adventurous spirit, his humour, his fire... It's a shame really.

Sideman? His incredible technique would be lost as a sideman. Picking notes with the whammy bar and manipulating the volume, couldn’t be done as a sideman.
